About the Course
During this introduction to lino printing workshop with local artist Suzanne Kemplay, you will explore ways of creating simple, striking images for printing onto a range of papers and cards, or onto fabric.
This is a hands-on, practical and fun workshop where you will learn how to create an original design, cut your design on to lino ready for adding paint and printing. You will gain the confidence you need to create beautiful prints at home without the need for expensive equipment.
On the paper-based lino printing workshop, you will take home a framed copy of a print of your choice plus a set of 10 postcard-size (A6) greeting cards including envelopes, or a smaller number of collage cards. On our fabric printing workshop you have the opportunity to print onto fabric items such as a tote bag or tea towel.
The Arienas Collective experiences are run from a supportive and welcoming home environment in the Edinburgh New Town. Spaces are limited so our artists can offer hands-on help and support. All equipment is provided, as are all the materials you will need. Just turn up, leave any day-to-day worries behind, and immerse yourself in creating something unique.
Please note that the Arienas Collective experiences are run from a first-floor open plan reception room and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Please let us know of any skin or food allergies when booking.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
The price for the day includes all materials, refreshments, and a buffet-style lunch. And of course you get to take all the products you have created home to enjoy and inspire you, or to give to family and friends as unique gifts.
I found this lino printing workshop via the Craft Courses site. I thoroughly enjoyed it, delivered in the lovely surroundings of Lynn's home and with a wonderful lunch. Suzanne was a great teacher, leading us through each step and providing reassurance and guidance when needed. Although I was a bit nervous at the start of the day as I've never been particularly artistic, I finished the day with my own completed design printed on to a canvas tote bag! So I came away feeling pretty pleased. I would highly recommend.

Response from The Arienas Collective:Hello Wendy. Thank you so much for taking the time to send us a review. I'm glad you enjoyed your workshop and were pleased with your final printed design. I thought your bag looked fabulous! It's tricky learning to create and cut a design for the first time, and hopefully you can use the lino design you took home with you to print onto many more products. We love it when beginners surprise themselves with their own creativity. Hope to welcome you back to The Arienas Collective one day. With best wishes, Lynn :-)
I found this lino printing workshop really good fun to do. Suzanne made some helpful suggestions with my design, and the lino was quite easy to work with. It was great to see the end result and have our own cards to take away.
Yvonne King - - #17930
Response from The Arienas Collective:Hi Yvonne. How lovely to get your feedback, and thank you for taking the time. The newer style of lino we use is much easier to cut than I remember from my school days! And we love to send people home with something they've completed. Hopefully you can continue lino printing at home onto different products. Best wishes, Lynn
I really enjoyed this workshop. It was my first time Lino Printing but with Suzanne’s guidance I produced some lovely cards. There is plenty of time to complete each step and Arienas Collective provides a homely setting and a lovely lunch. You take away all the materials so I’ve been able to give it a go at home. Would definitely recommend.
Lesley Gordon - - #17907
Response from The Arienas Collective:Hello Lesley. Thanks for taking time to leave us feedback, and I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your workshop. Our courses are designed so that people learn a skill they can continue at home if they want to, so it's lovely to hear you've carried on with your lino printing! Best wishes, Lynn
