Description

If you want to learn how to upcycle furniture with a cool new Modern look then this is the class for you!

It's a fun, informal workshop but with some serious upcycling going on as I take you right through the process of transforming a piece of your own furniture with a fabulous contemporary painted finish & giving it a whole new unique design.

We'll work through the essential steps preparing and repairing your furniture before painting before moving on to learn the way to get the smoothest paint finish possible by hand. Then I'll show you my tricks of the trade to create exciting geometric designs on your piece which will really make it stand out.

Finally we'll take a look at protective finishes and finishing touches for your project.

You'll get to work with some of the best furniture upcycling products used widely by industry professionals - including one of the leading furniture paints loved World-wide by Pro furniture painters and DIYers alike - Fusion Mineral Paint.

It is easy to work with, water-based, non-toxic, virtually odourless. has virtually no VOCs but is super tough and gives beautiful results. You'll get a chance to use some of the 50+ different colours as well as Metallics in their range.

You'll also get the chance to work with other top brands that I use regularly myself to create my pieces General Finishes paints, stains and top coats, Two Fussy Blokes and Robersons Liquid Metals.

I'll be on hand to guide you with help and advice throughout as well, lots of insider tips and techniques and am happy to answer any other questions you might have about other projects you've got lined up.

You can also come and join my Facebook Group after the workshop to get continued support and share your projects with other past work shoppers!

You will create a unique distinctive modern design and can be confident you'll have a brilliant, professional result by the end.

You'll save time and money knowing the right products and how to use them.

Here is what some of my the lovely people on my past workshops have had to say:

"Just completed the upcycling workshop with Nicky at Done up North. It was a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Lots of useful tips and help along the way. Nicky makes the day very enjoyable and meeting other like minded 'upcyclers' from those of us who are novices to those already giving it a go. I would highly recommend her workshops. I especially enjoyed giving the geometric designs a go (with Nicky's help) and I am pleased with my finished result."

"Nicky was brilliant!!!! A mine of information on all aspects, learning different techniques, with masking tape blows your mind with the outcome. It was a real fun experience and the time just whizzed by. It was great to see other people’s vision for their pieces and the results. Book on to a workshop you will not be disappointed. A great big thumbs up 👍 from me 😁"

"Before I started working with Nicky, I was struggling to know where to start with masking tape design and what order you did the different steps. But I’m so glad I joined her workshop as I learnt all the skills I needed. Nicky really helped me get clear on the process, the tools required, how to avoid mistakes and importantly, when mistakes do happen, how to correct them!"

"I was not feeling confident about my skills and I was worried about making basic mistakes. Now, I feel so much more prepared to take on work and challenges in my journey with upcycling! Nicky provided awesome resources and guidance that I can keep with me forever."

I am a full-time professional Furniture designer and uUcycler making high-end statement pieces for sale and for commission projects for clients across the country, specialising in creating Art Deco and Mid Century style Modern designs.

I have been teaching painting and upcycling workshops for three years now and I absolutely love doing them! It's fantastic working with people and seeing the amazing things they create and the enjoyment it brings them in the process.

I have a creative club on Facebook with over 600 members and also run a private subscription group for people starting out with their own upcycling businesses so you don't have to go it alone after the workshop!

I have a previous career in training and online user support so my workshops are a supportive, fun and friendly environment for people to come together to learn & relax with lots of encouragement from me - and other work shoppers - and as much or a little hand holding as you feel you need.

I'm an Associate Member of the House of Up - the UK's leading independent authority on professional upcycling for interiors. I'm also an Associate Member of the British Institute of Interior Designers and also hold a qualification in Interior Design.
