2 Day Pattern Design Workshop - Furniture Redesign
Description
Two days learning the art of paint and water-based stain pattern design. This course suits beginners, intermediates and professionals. The course is designed to be an art led and creative process where the student designs and applies a pattern on a sample board or on a prepared piece of furniture (ie – a set of flat sideboard doors, a table top, a chair seat, a tray or even a slab of wood which you could frame). Course Content – - Take inspiration from my portfolio imagery or Google imagery and we can start the day with a hot drink and a consultation. - We’ll do preparation work which will include stripping (if necessary), neutralising, sanding and grain filling (if using stains) and we’ll stain block if doing patterns in acrylic eggshell paints. - The designs will be lightly drawn out with soft pencils and our pattern will be masked with green or yellow frog tape depending on how delicate the work piece is. - Once we have meticulously masked up, we can then start to add stain or paint (or both), slowly working our way round the design with the help of a trusty hairdryer. - Allow the finishes to settle and dry. - Seal the artwork with oil, shellac or a decorators varnish (if painting). - The student will leave with a piece of artwork they’ll treasure, and the skill set to do this on further portfolio work.
What's included in the price?
All materials provided, unless you would like to bring your own colour scheme. I’d advise Little Greene acrylic eggshell as it dries quickly with a hairdryer.
