About the Course
A weekend art residential based at the breathtakingly beautiful Blencathra centre.
This course is designed as an introduction to drawing mammals from life and as a complement to the Drawing and Painting Birds course that tutor John Threlfall leads annually at the Blencathra Centre. Many of the drawing/seeing principles are retained but there will be extra emphasis on the anatomy of mammals and in capturing gesture and movement.
The North Lakes Wildlife Park, just 20 minutes away, provides perfect opportunities to study a wide range of mammals, from lemurs and gibbons to the ever popular meerkats as well as more domesticated breeds. John will lead you through a range of exercises that deepens your understanding and appreciation of these charismatic creatures and in the process producing lively, animated drawings.
John is a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists and of the Artists for Nature Foundation and is an experienced and enthusiastic communicator and learning guide.
