Indian Miniature Painting. Three day workshops in Indian Miniature painting taught by Samantha Buckley. Based in the idyllic location of Moor and Sea Holidays on Exmoor, these 3-day inspirational workshops introduce students to the beautiful technique of Indian miniature painting. Taking inspiration from the surrounding landscape and the Mughal art of capturing nature, students will have the opportunity to create their own unique painting. The first step will be paper preparation, staining and burnishing. Next is an introduction to pigments, how to prepare the Indian palette and paint with them, using the traditional technique of colour flooding. The final stage will be to create the fine detail, an integral part of this style. For this, students will use the technique known as Prataj, or invisible shading, with the unique squirrel brush found only in India. The workshops have different subjects Flowers September 2023 and 2024 Birds January 2024 Tree April 2024 During the 3 days there will also be an opportunity to explore the surrounding area for inspiration.

As well as running her own workshops in stained and fused glass she hosts courses run by other artists in oil painting, batik and Indian miniature painting. These inspirational workshops are held in the lovely airy art studio at Moor and Sea Holidays with beautiful views over Exmoor.
