About the Course

This course is suitable for all abilities, including those with no prior experience of laser cutting and engraving. There are many things that you can create; beautiful engravings of photographs, components for a 3D design, plates for printing and much more.

Over the course of the two days I will take you through preparing designs, sketches and photographs for cutting and engraving using illustrator, photoshop and the laser cutting software. You will product a selection of cut and engraved pieces and I have a variety of materials available including paper, card, plywood, laser rubber (for making stamps) and various colours of acrylic. You may wish to bring some of your own materials such as fabric, driftwood, feathers, stone or glass. This course is designed to give you time to experiment and play, so come along with lots of ideas!

Upon completion of this course you will be able to book time on the laser cutter to use by yourself.

You can pay just £40 to secure your place! The rest is then due 2 weeks before the course.

Please note: more dates will be added throughout the year, so if you are interested but unable to attend the current dates please do get in contact and I can add you to my mailing list to keep you up to date on new courses (don't worry I won't send you anything else!).

*If you have sent an email enquiry and haven't heard within 2 days please check your junk folder*

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

This two day course includes materials, refreshments and of course, cake! Please bring any objects that you may wish to use, pencils, pens, sketchbook, any other drawing materials and any designs that you can work from. I have a selection of materials including, paper, card, plywood, laser rubber, coloured sheets of acrylic and slate. If you wish to use a large quantity of a particular material a small charge may apply.

There are lots of local b&b's in the area, if you would like any recommendations please do let me know.

Want to review this course?

I attended this course on the 13th & 14th August. It was exactly what I was expecting, an introduction to Laser cutting, the materials, drawing applications and how to get from a paper design to a product. Emily is very knowledgeable and I would recommend this course to anyone thinking of getting into this field.

Had a great time on this course in February. I created a laser-engraved image on slate, cut and engraved rubber stamps, cut text out of craft vilene and even cut a design into a pheasant feather!! With no previous experience, I was given plenty of help and encouragement to achieve work that I was really proud of.

Just back from two days learning about artistic laser cutting, been playing with fabric, slate and stone, made some wood printing blocks ! Plenty of help with the computer stuff and the more technical side in a calm ' yeah you can try that ' atmosphere; also told what I couldn't do!!! Good lunch and lots of drinks. If you want to find out what laser cutting will do this is a good place to start.
