This course runs on a Wednesday morning. About the course: On this course you will develop your own response to a given topic. You will be encouraged to research both artists and artistic styles. Use your sketchbook to develop and experiment with ideas along with creating compositions and designs to work from. You will work through techniques to develop your drawing and mixed media skills. Most sessions will begin with a demonstration, which you can follow or develop with your own ideas and skills. This is an 12 week course with a one week break at half-term Over the 12 weeks we will: • Learn how to use source images to develop ideas and compositions. • Sketch with pencil and other drawing mediums to create marks and textures. • Create colour mixes using your choice of medium. • Use mixed media techniques to develop your own responses and ideas. • You can work in your sketchbook or on loose paper depending on the mediums we use. The idea is to work on several small projects, which you can develop into a final piece. Dates: April 19, 26. May 3,10, 17, 24. June 7, 14, 21, 28 July 5, 12. There will be no session the week 29th May—2nd June

What you will need

For this course you could use: • Suitable paper or sketchbook for your chosen mediums. • Drawing media (this could include; graphite pencils, coloured pencils, wax crayons, oil pastels, chalk pastels, charcoal, drawing pens, felt-tip pens...etc.) • Paint media (any; watercolour, gouache, acrylic or coloured inks) • Brushes, pots, palette, kitchen roll Do not buy new materials as the idea is for you to use all the equipment you have at home already! You will also need suitable access to zoom online and to be able to view the session at your workstation or studio space.
