Description

Next promoted date as part of a creative arts week - Art in the Barn: Tuesday 22nd October 2024. If you have ever considered designing and creating something to use in your home or thought about making personalised gifts for your family and friends, this is the workshop for you. Join us in the heart of the Meon Valley to explore kitchen table printing. Simply bring along your design ideas for images, patterns and shapes and learn how to translate these into a design, before cutting a stamp using Essdee Master Cut or on a mounted lino block and printing your design. We will initially create paper and card based products, such as gift tags and gift wrap, before printing onto a 50cm natural linen cushion cover. The workshop will be held in a beautiful C18th thatched barn on our working farm in The South Downs National Park. The workshop will be delivered by Alison Butler. With over 25 years experience as a textile designer and book illustrator, Alison enjoys sharing her wide ranging skills and knowledge. This workshop is suitable for people with a range of creative experiences, wishing to explore printing stamps onto paper, card and fabric. Please bring along: an apron, A5/6 ideas/drawings/images that inspire you and a large newspaper in which to transport your work home. You may wish to bring samples of different fabrics that you already have, i.e plain white cotton, calico or pale printed fabrics, to experiment with printing onto; these should be washed and ironed ahead of the workshop.

What's included in the price?

The workshop will include tuition, materials*, use of equipment and light refreshments; just bring your lunch. * One 50cm cushion cover will be provided for you. Further cushion covers will be available to purchase at the time of booking, costing £15.00 each - please be aware that if yours is a late booking, availability may be limited. An alternative is to bring along your own 50cm + pieces of linen to print onto or your own linen cushion covers - all pieces will need to be ironed.
