About the Course
A 'Made by Me' 2 colour Lino cutting workshop
Suitable for beginners – As a process Lino printing is lovely it gives very unique marks. It seems to be going through a bit of a revival as an art form to. The focus is that you have a bit of fun and that you go home with a few prints, You will transfer and cut your own design on to an easy cut lino block/plate.
Lino plates will be up to about 9cm by 12cm to allow you the time to cut 2 plates for a 2 color print. (Size is thereabouts or smaller - feel free to consider a square design (or any shape of design)
In considering time an 8 by 8 cm block can be cut and printed in under 2 hours. If time is a concern for you please bring a drawing or printed simple image to work with, you will be able to work faster if you have decided what design you want to cut (you can email me an idea beforehand if you are super keen) and if you have a printed image of it that’s to scale. Please feel free to work on a design that is ‘picture’ in its own right, a repeatable motif or a tile like repeat/boarder design. Allow a min 4.5 hours for printing and potentially exploring* backgrounds. Please feel free to bring in some light weight card with pre prepared backgrounds to print on eg inked, painted, collage (well-fixed please) etc

I enjoyed this workshop so much! Maria taught us all the techniques of linocut printing and explained everything clearly and with examples. We all produced and took home samples of our cards. It was a great day and Maria gave us all the individual attention we needed. I now have the linocutting bug and can’t wait to do more!
