"A lovely way to start feeling festive. Welcoming environment with clear instructions on how to reach the venue. Good quality materials and guidance from Antony who was very knowledgeable and patient. Tasty lunch provided with drinks and snacks too. Enjoyed my day and came away with a very impressive reindeer. "Really enjoyed the willow stag making course. Anthony , the tutor was very clear with his instruction, helpful and kept us to time to ensure we all went home with a finished masterpiece. The studio was clean and bright and ideal for the course. Lots of lovely cake and tea and an excellent ‘ light’ lunch. Would highly recommend and I’ll definitely use Zanthium again "

Carol reviewed: Mosaic Taster Session (half day) in the Peak District

"This was a great introduction to mosaic for me. The course is held in a fabulous location and the facilities are perfect. Peter and Ali are warm and welcoming. Peter has a lovely tuition style - not intrusive but always supportive with clear direction. Ali makes a mean apple cake which I understand is calorie-free (ha, ha). I wish there had been time to do the grouting - could this be a 4-hour course instead of 3 perhaps? I will definitely recommend this to friends and family. 5 stars from me !"

We offer a range of longer workshops (1 day, 2-day or 5 day) if you'd like to continue with the craft. 'Grouting' is always taught as a demonstration on our shorter courses - as the tile adhesive needs time to dry before this final stage. Peter has sent you a reminder of this simple process by email."

"It was a great introduction to making Mosaics with plenty of materials to pick from and options for ‘makes’. Peter provided just the right level of instruction and help. The refreshments were options plentiful and Alison provided a wonderful cake. My daughter and I had a lovely time and it was great to take home finished mosaics (well just the challenge of the final grouting to do). We both really enjoyed it."

"My son and I attended Fishing Fly Tying half day. I am a complete beginner and my son has some knowledge and practical skills. The venue is excellent, the instructor was great, welcoming and made you feel at ease straight away. We started with a simple flies such as a mop fly processing to making flies such as a pheasant tale nymph. The instructor was flexible and asked what we wanted to learn the make. All supplies used were explained and instructions were clearly given. Conversation was engaging and very informative. My son and I tend to do a workshop together to spend time together while learning a new/improve skills. I would highly recommend this course, great location, fantastic instructor and amazing home made cake. "

As a complete beginner I felt I learnt a lot, while realising that I would need a lot of practice to be able to apply this to my own small projects. Amelia Jane was very encouraging and the time raced away. I would attend a follow-up course if this became available. Thanks also to Zantium Studios for excellent tea and lemon drizzle cake!"

"Fab course lots of individual attention. The reason there’s not 5/5 is because at the end we weren’t given instructions for snipping the extra lengths of willow inside the basket and for a couple of us this meant the final basket has lots of slipped weaves etc… such a shame as the teaching was otherwise excellent and I suspect was simply an oversight because others needed attention at the time ."

"Completely 5 star from beginning to end! Alison and Ed, who ran the course, where completely lovely and so helpful. I never could have believed I'd be able to make a 6ft garden support, let alone 2!! The day was absolutely great from beginning to end, meet some wonderful people on the course and it all took place in an idyllic 'to die for garden' with fabulous views. Having the company of nosey chicken's was also a bonus, as was the food, which was non-stop and completely delicious, I'm sure I'll be booking another willow weaving course again soon. "

The setting was magnificent and we were made to feel so welcome by Alison who provided delicious home made food and plenty of snacks and drinks. The tutor, Eddie was incredibly patient. "A great day out under the excellent tuition of Anthony and in the grounds of Zantium studios outside of Wirksworth. Super lunch and lots of snacks to keep us weaving. Attended with my wife and we both managed to create 2 large decorative panels that are now hiding our home oil tank. We were encouraged to be bold with our work and everyone managed to create something interesting. Thoroughly recommend."

"A great day out - a relaxed atmosphere, Zantium studios were really welcoming and Holly the tutor was patient and supportive to all course delegates. " I used a craftcourses gift voucher to make a willow reindeer with Anthony at the Zanthium Studios. He was very patient, funny and great at explaining everything. As a complete novice, I've impressed myself and my family with my creation and he will have pride of place in the hall this Christmas, greeting any visitors! We had a lovely lunch and afternoon cake and a really great day. Thank you! "

"This was a marvellous course. The facilities were good - the room was light and airy and there was a delicious lunch and plentiful supply of drinks....but more importantly the teacher was excellent. Ali clearly explained everything and she was very attentive to our individual work and queries. I came away feeling enthused and delighted with the work I had done and seen. I only wish there was a follow-up course!! "

"We really enjoyed the willow weaving session. The hospitality was lovely - food was amazing and well beyond our expectations. The instructor Anthony was so patient with my mum with can struggle a little due to arthritic hands. He was personable and made the whole day a pleasure. Great day, would highly recommend and will definately be back for other sessions at the studio!"
