Lorraine was very informative. Thoroughly enjoyed this course. She was very patient as it was something I'd never done before and found it a little tricky at times. It was bought for me as a way to relax and it certainly did the job. Would highly recommend
Attended a taster course, Lorraine was very welcoming upon our arrival and showed us around. She was very informative and once we was shown what to do was left to have a go ourselves with Lorraine offering help and support when needed. It was a fun, friendly and relaxing atmosphere and would definitely recommend a visit.. will be visiting again.
Lorraine's the best teacher you could ever hope for she's patient, talented and all around lovely. The classes are less of classes more of a friendly get together where everyone supports one another and you have a proper laugh, that's why I've done 3 lots of classes now, I don't ever want to leave!
I attended the six week evening pottery course and have enjoyed it immensely! Over these weeks I have had the opportunity to wedge, throw and decorate/glaze a number of various items. Lorraine has been very patient, extremely informative and knowledgeable about all aspects of the craft and I look forward to the next course so I can do it all over again!
Thank you Lorraine for helping me to realise my inner potter!
Such a fantastic course! As a complete beginner I was made to feel welcome and everything was explained and demonstrated. Lorraine is a fantastic host/teacher and was very encouraging and was always available for help. I had such a good day, can't wait to pick up my finished pieces to see how they've turned out! Would recommend to anyone!
I spent a most enjoyable day with my daughter learning how to “throw a pot” when we attended a recent pottery course expertly delivered by Lorraine Bates.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our experience and was guided through each step in a most friendly and informative way. I can highly recommend a visit to Woodsetton Art Pottery.
And . . . cannot wait to see (& collect) the fruits of our labours.
Thank you Lorraine.
We received a lovely warm welcome with home made cakes and biscuits on hand all day. Lorraine is so knowledgeable and has an excellent teaching style, adapting to the different students within the small group. We received lots of feedback and ideas throughout the day and got a good feel for the foundations of throwing pottery on the wheel.
Fabulous course, tutor very informative and very skilled potter, and teacher. Would recommend anyone that ever wondered if they should have a go, then this is the place to attend. Looking forward to booking more courses with them.
I had a wonderful day getting to grips with the basics of pottery, having been booked a place on the workshop as a birthday present. Lorraine was a wonderful teacher, and took us through how to throw, turn and decorate our creations. The pots came out looking amazing! I would book another workshop with Lorraine without hesitation.
Having tea, coffee, and cake available to us throughout the day was a really nice touch too. Lorraine also has some of her work for sale at the studio - I couldn't resist buying a cup or two for myself! Thank you so much!
I attended the course with my sister. I had never attempted to throw a pot before, but by the end of the day i also learned how to turn the pots and how to decorate them. Lorraine was a very patient teacher and explained everything clearly.
We had a great day, i would love to go back and do it all over again.
Attended a course on Friday 28/6 with husband and 2 daughters. It was such good fun. Lorraine has such a lovely pleasant personality and was so helpful, informative and patient. Loved the whole day. Want to do it again.
My sister and I attended Lorraine’s workshop yesterday and had a wonderful day. Lorraine is an excellent teacher guiding us and supporting us each step of the way. Having not done this before I was amazed at what we achieved and we’re looking forward to seeing the finished glazed pots. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and Lorraine’s Mom’s Lemon Yoghurt cake was delicious. The day was so enjoyable and great value for money.
I attended this Pottery Workshop recently, as an absolute beginner. I had a most enjoyable day. Lorraine was so thorough in her teaching and had so much patience. I found the course very enjoyable, I managed to make 6 pots. The "finishing" of the pots was very calming and therapeutic, an excellent experience - I would certainly go again and recommend it to all ages. Many thanks Lorraine.
Lorraine is a great teacher and the pottery is set up well to accommodate a group. It doesn't matter if there are mixed abilities as Lorraine caters for each person, supporting them as needed. Her demonstrations are clear and helpful - you learn what to do but also why each step is needed and where common problems arise.
I have been twice and found each workshop to be great fun, relaxing and very satisfying, starting from little experience and building up to a point where I have a collection of pots including a mug and jug that can be used daily. I would highly recommend the course.
I also took my children to a free short workshop on the Hey Clay day - they were delighted to learn how to throw a pot and had two each by the end.
Very productive day. Good fun. Excellent tutor.
We each threw, turned and decorated at least 6 pots of various sizes. Can't wait for them to be glazed & fired ready for collection.
PS: Cake was delicious - Thanks Lorraine's mum
We had a great day my daughter and I. Lorraine is a knowledgeable and patient teacher and we would do it again anytime. Well worth the cost which we thought tdpw reasonable compared to other similar. Plenty of space and equipment/wheels for our group so we were never in a queue
