5* review. Brilliant day. Jo is such a good (and patient) teacher. All the techniques we used and the items we made were so useful. Excellent venue. Loved it. Thank you so much Jo and the rest of the class.
I attended this workshop for a friends birthday and what an excellent choice we made. Jo was a patient and informative teacher who has given me a skill that I can know do at home. Not only do you have a fantastic and enjoyable day, you learn a new skill, get to take your beautiful footstool home and enjoy a delicious afternoon tea as well. Would highly recommend anyone take this workshop no matter what your skill level is.
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you so much Linda. I’m so pleased you enjoyed the workshop. What a lovely bunch you were.
I really enjoyed the recent upholstery course at Poynton. We were a small group and the atmosphere was relaxed with Jo on hand to help us all at each stage. Jo is extremely helpful, patient and knowledgable and gave us some great advice and tips to take our new found skills further. The cakes and scones were an added bonus and very much appreciated, thank you Jo’s mum! I am so pleased with my footstool which is so much better than I expected it to be. A great day. Thank you.
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you so much Wendy, It always makes my day to receive such a lovely review and my Mum is delighted you enjoyed her cakes. You did a lovely job of your footstool. Enjoy putting your feet up!
I thoroughly enjoyed the day at The Boho Shed in Poynton (The Centre) with Jo. It was just what I was looking for. I attended a Saturday workshop in September 2020, and was so pleased it was running. We were socially distanced as it was a small class due to Covid-19 restrictions. Jo showed us each stage of the process of upholstery clearly and empathized with any difficulties we encountered. All who attended were of a like-mind, and it was a delight to be an a relaxed environment.
I am hoping she will run other classes from Poynton soon as it was a convenient hub for me to travel to and there was dedicated free parking space outside the building. By the way, 'The Centre' is a large village hall with plenty of rooms, a separate kitchen and good toilet facilities. An all-round excellent experience. Well done Jo.
Response from The Boho Shed:Thanks so much for your lovely review Liz. That's much appreciated. I'm delighted you enjoyed the day and it was lovely to met you. I am running workshops in Poynton ongoing this year and will be organising more dates for 2021. I hope to see you again at some point for more creativity :-).
Attended the furniture painting and upcycling workshop a few days ago and it was excellent! The workshop was a perfect size, really chilled and informal and the location was perfect, surrounded by beautiful gardens and a fab little café. Jo was an excellent trainer and I picked up some great prepping and painting techniques and advice around the best paints and brushes to purchase. Will definitely be attending more of Jo's sessions! X
Response from The Boho Shed:So pleased you enjoyed the workshop Christina. It was a pleasure for me and your little chair looked really gorgeous. I look forward to seeing you again soon. X
The furniture painting workshop at Cuerden Valley yesterday was really enjoyable and very informative. Jo allowed all participants to ask questions as we were learning new techniques and was very supportive and encouraging as we worked on our individual pieces. We all came away inspired and more confident to try out new techniques. Thanks Jo!
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you so much for your lovely review Lesley. I’m delighted you enjoyed the day and feel inspired to try some more new techniques. Happy Painting.
I attended the Footstool Upholstery Workshop at Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden on 21st February (2020) along with five other ladies who were totally unknown to me. Joanne was the tutor and took us through the process of creating a footstool from scratch. Helped and guided by Joanne's clear and simple step by step instructions, we all managed to make wonderful little footstools to take home with us at the end of the day.
We got on very well and had lots of fun in the process. It was lovely to see how the fabric we had chosen gave a personality to each of the footstools. They looked amazing and we all felt very proud of ourselves when we viewed the finished items.
The workshop took place in a heated potting shed and was very pleasant, despite the inclement weather that day.
I would thoroughly recommend this workshop and, of course, Joanne, our excellent teacher.
Response from The Boho Shed:What very kind words Diane. Thank you so much. I am so pleased you enjoyed the workshop. The footstools were all really gorgeous. Thank you for contributing to such a great day.
Great course for anyone wanting to enhance or reminder of techniques, or like me start from the beginning not having tried it before. Great tips on which paints work better with the different techniques. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere in a great location. I will definitely be going to more of Jo's courses!
Response from The Boho Shed:Thanks for your lovely review Lesley. You did such a great job of your furniture particularly it was your first time. I look forward to seeing you again.
I had an amazing time both learning new techniques and brushing up (pardon the pun) on previously taught skills. This was my second experience of the level 1 course, and I was delighted to realise how much more I learnt. The entire day was so much fun, led by an extremely accomplished artist who was so generous in sharing her vast knowledge and experience. Joanne purposed to divide her time between all 8 of us so brilliantly, guiding and advising with ideas personal to each person, and perfectly appropriate to each piece. We all had a fabulous time of bonding throughout the day as we practised the various exercises. We all came away with a greater understanding of approaching furniture restoration, along with transferable skills for future endeavours. We also came away with a finished product that, to my mind, were of a very high standard. I can highly recommend Joanne’s workshops. You will never see a piece of furniture in the same light. A joy!!
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you so much for your really lovely words Michelle. You are doing such a fantastic job of all your painting projects. You're very talented and creative. Your biscuits were delicious btw! Thank you!
I really enjoyed our day at Cuerden Valley Park on Saturday. What a gorgeous venue - fantastic 'Afternoon Tea' - lovely group to learn with and great teacher/hostess. Also very pleased with my footstool - soooooo cute - and was so inspired I had a go at my old Bedding box yesterday!
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you for your lovely words Jenny. Great to hear about your bedding box! Please send me a picture.
Thank you for a great day out. Jo was really patient and supportive and all the footstools that we made were fabulous. The size of group and venue was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea
Response from The Boho Shed:You are very welcome Elaine. I am delighted you enjoyed the day and love your footstool. It was great to meet you and your lovely daughters.
I had an excellent day at the footstool upholstery workshop in Cuerden Park today. Jo is a great instructor, very knowledgeble, patient and helpful. And I absolutely love my new footstool!
Response from The Boho Shed:I'm so pleased you enjoyed the day Georgina, thank you for your kind words. It was lovely to meet you and your Mum and sister.
I’ve just completed the upholstery workshop, it was lovely to meet likeminded people and do something you all enjoy, the tutor Joanne was so lovely and very patient allowing you to work at your own pace, she also makes delicious cakes to share with the group, it has given me the skills and confidence to take on a small project myself. I would highly recommend it and will definitely book another workshop soon 😊
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you so much for your kind words Lynn! It was lovely to meet you. I am really pleased you feel you can now take on your own upholstery projects at home and I look forward to seeing you again soon on one of my furniture painting workshops.
What a fun and Inspiring day I had at Jo’s footstool workshop yesterday along with the other participants. Jo’s straight forward, inclusive teaching manner led to us all leaving thoroughly delighted with our footstool babies and eager to learn more from Jo at one of her other courses. Thanks so much x
Response from The Boho Shed:Thanks so much Mel. You did a lovely job on your footstool. I had such a great day with you all and I look forward to seeing you again for some painting! 💕
Had a fantastic day today learning to make a footstool with Jo from the boho shed. She is a great teacher -very patient and encouraging and worked at a pace to suit all. I have never done any upholstery before, but Jo walked us through the steps and everyone ended up with a beautiful footstool to be proud of. The day was very inspiring and I met some lovely people and was kept fed and watered with plenty of tea and coffee and Jo’s gorgeous cakes. I can’t wait to attend another of Jo’s courses and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for an enjoyable day learning the basics of upholstery -you won’t be disappointed!
Response from The Boho Shed:I had a great day with all of you Sue! You made such a great job of your footstool. Thank you so much for your kind words. Very much appreciated. I look forward to seeing you again.
I recently attended the beginners furniture painting course and I absolutely loved it! The woman who runs it, Jo, was very warm and welcoming and she did an amazing job with showing us all some great basic techniques with which to apply to the pieces of furniture we brought! You can really tell that she puts so much effort and love into what she does and its obvious in the advice she gave me when it came to painting. She made me feel like my piece wasn't just a work she thought would be good and was very keen to work around what we each like in terms of colour, style and texture! And that's just talking about the course!
The venue itself is a beautiful little gem of a cafe - easily the nicest I've ever been to - where everything from the aesthetics to the staff to the variety and quality of the food and drinks provided is truly top notch!
I imagine this review probably sounds kinda cheesy but it's only because of how much I enjoyed the day! To anyone who wants to paint up that old table in the shed or want to spruce up a picture frame, you would be mad to not give it a go!
Response from The Boho Shed:What a really lovely review Beth, thank you so much. I really enjoyed working with you in helping you to develop your skills and go home with a gorgeous piece of transformed furniture. You did a fantastic job!
I would like to thank Jo for a brilliant introduction to furniture painting, I'm not very good at arty things but thought I would give this course a try and see what I could produce. We were provided with written, verbal and practical instruction and Jo was very supportive and helpful at all times. And so, we set about using our new learned techniques to transform our tired old pieces of furniture into some lovely items.
The course is held in a large and comfortable room near the cafe where we ate a wonderful afternoon tea. I would recommend this course to anyone who is curious/interested in furniture painting and I am certainly going to try my hand at painting some furniture at home.
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you so much for your wonderful review Joyce. It was great that you were part of the day! I am so pleased you will try out your newly learned techniques at home. Please let me see what you produce.
A lovely day, I learned a lot and met some great people too. Would definitely recommend this course.
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you for your recommendation Suzanne. Your mirror looked delightful at the end of the day. I had a lovely day with you all too. Hope to see you again.
What a lovely day
Very interesting and interactive, every minute used to the max.
Learned such a lot and came away with a great sense of achievement.
Lovely place with great facilities.
Very well done Jo.
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you Carolyn. You did so well with your unit. I hope your fish enjoy their new home. It was lovely to spend the day with you.
I was given this course as a birthday present from my daughter. This course did not appeal to me but went with a very small table (just about to be thrown into a tip) not knowing what to expect! The day was spent with a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic instructor, Joanne.
At the end of the day I came away having transformed my small table and learnt a great deal about all types and methods of transforming items of furniture.
There were 8 of us all with different items and all took a marvellous turnaround in appearance. Changed my mind - would recommend this course especially to people who think they cannot do this.
Response from The Boho Shed:Thank you so much for your lovely review Val. I am so delighted you enjoyed the day and got so much out of it having arrived feeling quite cynical about the workshop. You did amazingly well with your table and I hope your daughter loved it too.
