This course is excellent. I have done a few of Sharon’s courses and have enjoyed each one thoroughly. Sharon is a great teacher and makes sure each student gets the most out of the course. The atmosphere is intimate, relaxed, and fun (and there were always drinks and biscuits on offer!). I’m so pleased with the panels and other pieces I made during the sessions and I’ve learned so much. I can’t wait start my next piece at home, independently. I also hope to attend another course some time in the future as they are so enjoyable and informative.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Helen, thank you for leaving such a kind review :)
Sharon is a brilliant teacher and such a warm friendly person. She really looked after us and responded to our questions and individual projects with perfect guidance and encouragement. I love the studio - atmospheric and a good working environment. This course is perfect for learning a new skill, developing one already begun and having a really great time in lovely company.
This short evening course in copper foiling was amazing!❤
Sharon is so welcoming and knowledgeable. The atmosphere was very relaxed and Sharon was always on hand to give expert advice and help when required.
The studio set up was perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better way to spend a Thursday evening! A real sense of achievement with the beautiful pieces that we all created. 🙂
I recently did the four week copper foiling evening class with Sharon at AWOL studios. First things first, before telling you how brilliant this course was (and it is) I should fess up that I have done three other courses with Sharon - a mosaic introduction and two stained glass panel courses. It's safe to say I think she's brilliant.
Back to copper foiling - Sharon is knowledgeable and a wonderful teacher. The studio is set up excellently with very generous work space, and all materials were included in this course in the price. The amount of glass to choose from is amazing - no cheap shortcuts here, thank you! - and Sharon is always on hand to help with any design issues. I completed three pieces, a small practice sun catcher, a bird from Sharon's design collection plus a fox that I found online. I'm really pleased with all three, and I want to do another course in the New Year, timing permitting.
If you're thinking about it, stop thinking and do it. You won't regret it. The two and a half hours flew by each Thursday and I felt a real glow of accomplishment. Course mates were brilliant and we all cheered each other on (I am still in awe of the rainbow star and the goldfinch). It's hard sometimes to mentally commit to an evening class; I felt the same. But each time, after I dragged myself out, I found myself happy and engaged and energised at the class. The fact that Sharon also provides tea and stellar choccy biscuits may have helped also....
I highly recommend any of Sharon's courses and this one in particular - I will be back for more.
I took a 2 day leaded stained glass class with Sharon and it was fantastic. I love the piece I made, and Sharon is a great teacher and lovely person. Absolutely planning to return for more projects!
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Hi Jessika,
The course was great and Sharon was very patient and helpful. There was lots of choice when it came to patterns and glass. It was a great two days and for my it’s now a serious hobby.
What a fabulous 2 days I spent on this course, it was brilliant! I started out as a complete beginner and at the end I had made a stained glass panel which I love. However, more importantly, I feel I now have the skills and confidence to tackle my own projects in the future. Sharon, our teacher was amazing. The whole course was taught in a lovely, relaxed, friendly manner. Everything was clearly explained and as there was only 4 of us on the course, Sharon was always on hand to assist and advise if necessary. At the end we all had very different panels to take home. I would not hesitate to recommend this course to anyone and would love to do another of Sharon's courses in the future.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Thank you Diane, such a lovely review! Almost didn't recognize myself :)
I was very excited for this workshop and I was not disappointed. Sharon was incredibly helpful and it was a well structured day. I left feeling confident to try it at home.
I had an amazing day at the Copper Foiling workshop. It was Christmas themed so we made some wonderful glass Christmas decorations. Sharon was a brilliant teacher and the space is just perfect for the small class size. Thank you Sharon!
My daughter-in-law and I had spent a wonderful weekend making our panels. The course was very intimate and Sharon was a fabulous teacher and great fun to be with. I look forward to another workshop soon.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Thank you Vonetta for your kind review.
I booked this course for myself and friends as a suprise birthday present for one of us. Sharon was great, made us feel at home in her lovely studio. Supplied plenty of tea and biscuits and great relaxed tuition to help us make our stained glass creations. We loved it and will be going back. Thanks again Sharon we all had a great day.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Thank you Susan for your lovely review, it was really fun to have you all in the studio, especially as it was a surprise birthday present.
Enjoyable and practical weekend course, conscientiously delivered by Sharon Campbell.
Inspired to the next level 9week evening course to learn more about this fun and rewarding craft.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Hi Phil, thank you so much for giving such a nice review. Really glad it inspired you to the next level. I look forward to seeing you again and the design you want to make. Sharon :)
I have just been on this course and would recommend it to anyone who has the slightest bit of interest in stained glass. An excellent teacher, run in a friendly and encouraging environment, nothing is to much trouble for Sharon (the teacher). Every step expertly explained and genuinely delivered, help is given if needed but advise on how to do it yourself given first. If you are thinking of doing the class I would recommend it 100%. Thank you Sharon for a wonderful weekend with a lovely stained glass panel I created.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Hi Angela, thank you so much for such a glowing review. So pleased you had a good time making the panel and during the weekend workshop. I hope you are enjoying your panel hanging up in your home. Sharon :)
A really lovely course - warm, friendly and welcoming! Nice relaxed pace but packed with advice, useful info and guidance, Sharon is very supportive and knowledgable. I really liked the format of the day, starting with safety advice and a practice piece, before being able to be creative and make your own piece or use a myriad of design ideas. Very good value for money and a rewarding day, will definitely be visiting again! Thank you!
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Thank you Fiona, a lovely review, I'm very glad you found the studio friendly and welcoming and yet with enough support and advice to be able to have a go at home. You would be very welcome back. Sharon :)
This is the second course I have taken with the same tutor. So I came to this with a working knowledge of stained glass. But still it was engaging and informative. It started with the basics and at by the end of the session we had completed a nice little sun catcher. It wasn’t prescriptive so we have the option to make something we designed ourselves. It was a great course with a great tutor.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Thank you Barry for such a nice review. I am very glad that you did find it engaging and informative, on top of the stained glass skills you had already learnt.
I thoroughly enjoyed the evening course and saw a real development in my skills over the 9 weeks. Sharon is a knowledgeable, patient and fun teacher, who recognises the importance of safety as well as allowing her students some independence. We had the opportunity to make stained glass panels to our own designs using either lead or copper foil technique.
I heartily recommend Sharon's courses for all budding (or just curious) stained glass artists.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Hi Emma,
I started off as a complete novice with Sharon and developed a real love for the medium as she guided me through challenging projects and encouraged my inner creativity. Over six sessions in two years I have completed a lampshade, three large panels, a candle holder and a small Victorian grid style panel in both lead and copper foil. The classes are always relaxing and social but Sharon keeps a good tempo so everyone walks away with completed projects at the end of term.
Whether you're looking to explore the magic of stained glass, learn a new skill or switch off for 3 hours from your daily grind every Monday or Wednesday the course is great value. Highly recommended and I look forward to my next session!
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Hi Tina,
Sharon, is very knowledgeable and helpful. The studio has a lovely warming atmosphere. Thanks for your help, I enjoyed meeting you.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Hi Chris,
This is second course that I attended with Sharon, and it was also planned out in logical way. It was limited to 4 places (all of Sharon’s course are limited to 4 places) so that the students could progress at their own pace, giving them the confidence to complete their final piece. Sharon was always on hand to offer help, support and advice [as well as tea, coffee and biscuits). The structure of the course was well balanced, with a mixture of different age groups.
Sharon promotes a friendly and relaxed environment and I would highly recommended this course and the stained glass course which I also attended.
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Hi Marian, it was lovely to have you back on another workshop. Thank you for leaving such good review. I am so glad you have enjoyed both workshops with me and wish you lots of fun creating with glass at home. Sharon :)
Amazing day well worth the money and time spent creating something unique and super special with skills I will use for future projects. Sharon was extremely helpful and friendly and the day was great. 5 stars *****
Response from Manchester Stained Glass:Thank you so much for your kind words Pippa, very glad you enjoyed the workshop. It was a very lovely original piece you made using the painted glass. I wish you much luck with your future projects :) Sharon
