"Did an afternoon taster session and made 3 pots. Loved it! Packed a lot in to the afternoon. Jack was incredibly patient and attentive with everyone and gave very clear instruction. Would definitely try and do another. Great fun and learned a lot considering I had never been on a wheel before. Nice coffee too!"

"I had a lovely afternoon first time ever having a go at pottery. Jack made us all feel welcomed into his studio in a lovely safe COVID friendly environment. Jack demonstrated so clearly and was on hand to help that we all managed to produce three pieces each. Can’t wait to see them when painted and glazed. Would highly recommend for first timers that fancy something different to do."

"I was booked into a Taster course with Jack as a birthday present back in 2019. I wasn't able to use my voucher at all in 2020 due to lockdowns but Jack was really accomodating and made sure we had a session booked in even though my voucher had expired. I had such a great afternoon with Jack! He was extremely welcoming and made the session really enjoyable for my first ever pottery throw. He gave clear guidance throughout the whole session. The studios are beautiful and I fully recommend anyone wanting to pottery throw to book in with Jack and Loam. A 5* experience!"

"I have always wanted to try pottery and the afternoon taster session was perfect. I booked the course for myself and my husband. We absolutely loved the afternoon and were pretty chuffed with our finished little pots. Jack was friendly and so patient during the session - he clearly loves his job! "I would definitely recommend booking a pottery course here! I did a 2.5 hour throwing taster lesson and really enjoyed it. A great relaxed atmosphere in a bright airy studio. Jack was a patient, adept teacher and the small class size was perfect to make sure you were on track. I was happy with my cups and look forward to visiting again."

"Last sat at a potter’s wheel just shy of 28 years ago and wanted to try my hand again, so my fiancé booked us in for the 2 hr taster session. Jack makes for a great tutor being highly attentive, clear in direction and wonderfully friendly. The studio is no ‘shed’ at the bottom of the garden, rather a beautiful light-filled space, perfect for detaching from the world and indulging in creative thought and focus. We were so impressed and had such a great time, we intend to sign up for the 5 day intensive course!"

"My partner and I did the 2.5 hour throwing taster session after it was recommended by a friend. After completing the session, I immediately wanted to book in for another class. Jack was a very friendly and patient teacher. From teaching us the fundamentals of throwing to how to correct any mistakes made. He was incredibly supportive and very personable. I was unsure of how much I would enjoy pottery as it was completely new to me, but after the first cup was made I was immediately hooked and this is a huge compliment to jack and his teaching style. Casual conversations whilst going through each step made for an easygoing and relaxing experience. We can’t wait to go back and make a variety of pottery!"

"Booked this back in March as a birthday present for my husband. Lockdown meant we had to postpone it but it was well worth the wait. Jack is an excellent tutor, friendly and informative. There were five of us on the course, all spread out to meet social distancing guidelines. We each produced three pots during a very absorbing and enjoyable afternoon. We'd recommend it without hesitation!"

"Along with a friend I attended the taster pottery throwing session. Neither of us had any experience of 'things pottery', other than at school over 50 years ago! Jack made us welcome and reassured us that zero knowledge did not mean disaster; far from it! Both of us were delighted with the end results that would not have been achieved without the patience, guidance and assistance of Jack. Instructions were clear and well demonstrated before we were let loose on a potter's wheel. The session was relaxed along with tea/coffee and chocolate brownies, what more could you ask for. We left having made three 'pots', which are to be collected in a few weeks, with a sense of self-satisfaction and achievement that we did not know we had, but Jack showed us what was possible for the absolute beginner. We highly recommend this course because of Jack's friendly, encouraging, knowledge of pottery and his ability to bring out the 'inner potter'."

"Booked a taster class for myself and fiancée as a Christmas present as we had been talking about doing something like this for many years. Jack has a great approach to teaching and creates an awesome learning environment, we enjoyed every moment and we’re excited to see our pieces forming shape in no time at all. "We had a lovely taster session at Loam Pottery. The afternoon surpassed our expectations! When Jack showed us the goal for the class (a small pot) we all scoffed at being able to produce anything like that... but with Jack's expert guidance, we all produced 3 pots that we could be proud of. Jack is very skilled at teaching the use of the potters wheel and by the third pot, we almost felt like we had completed the final piece completely independently. Thank you, Jack!"
