Liz's workshop was excellent!
In respect of the current situation with Covid every precaution and adherence to protocols were completely explained and adhered to throughout and I felt safe.
Liz had prepared well with the tutorials, practical sessions, with everything we needed at our workstations.
She is a gifted, knowledgeable, generous and enthusiastic tutor, with the ability to explain, inspire and support across a mixed ability class.
A lovely setting and a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere conducive to learning even though we worked hard.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would love to attend another of Liz’s workshops should an opportunity arise.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Hi Sue, what a lovely review! Thank you for taking the time to do it. Really pleased you enjoyed the course and hope to welcome you back to another one soon.
Not only is Liz a great artist, she is also a great tutor - and the two do not always go together! Liz has a relaxed and friendly manner and delivers a well structured course. Her critiques are fair, constructive and encouraging. I went hoping to learn how to 'let go' and loosen up a bit - and certainly achieved my objective, and learnt good techniques, as well as having fun. The Studio is ideal - and in a fabulous setting. I'll be back for more!
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Hi Karon, thank you for your lovely review. I smiled to myself as I did the intro and told you what we would be covering. Unfortunately as the ending is more loose I couldn't 'tell em what I told em'! So glad you enjoyed it and really hope to see you back soon. It is a gorgeous venue, isn't it??
Liz is a wonderful teacher: engaging, enthusiastic and encouraging. The course covered some basic and more advanced techniques with lots of time to practice and experiment. I would thoroughly recommend Liz’s courses to any one who loves watercolour
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Hi Donna, thank you for such a lovely review. I thought your otter was excellent and meant to take a photo, along with the silhouettes - but didn't. If you share on social media tag me and I with 'love' it! I am so glad you have booked on more courses. See you soon!
I always enjoy being on the courses that Liz runs. She takes a lot of trouble to make them instructional and fun. Today we worked on painting animals in water colour and Liz was so helpful. She breaks the day into 4 sessions and demonstrates clearly what each section is teaching. She allows plenty of time for students to ask questions and we all had a great day.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thank you so much Carole for a lovely review. I appreciate it and I am glad you enjoyed the day. See you soon!
Having never used watercolours before and being very sporadic in my artistic endeavours I was a little apprehensive going into the class. I needn't have been, as Liz is an excellent teacher and swiftly put me (and the other students) at ease.
Her instructions were clear and concise with a nice dash of humour. Liz demonstrated on a TV screen the techniques before giving us an opportunity to practise what we have just been over. I found the progression from the basic techniques, through tones, washes and eventually using a mask to get white into an image well judged. Throughout the day Liz would wander around and help us refine what we were doing, and in places where perhaps we hadn't been successful suggested options for what to do to improve the picture, or give an explanation as to why it happened and how to avoid pitfalls in the future.
The venue was perfect with plenty of space, a gorgeous setting and very welcoming. I'm looking forwards to experimenting more in this medium.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Hi Stephen - thank you for such a lovely review! I am delighted you enjoyed it and am well impressed with the koala and fish you and your family have already painted. Be less sporadic and you will make huge progress, I promise! Lizx
I really enjoyed the day. Liz is a fabulous tutor who I've met before and didn't fail to instruct and make sure I understood what I was doing!
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:So glad you enjoyed it! Hope to see you back at Micklems soon!
I thoroughly enjoyed this course and learnt so much. The set up worked very well, the explanations and demonstrations were clear and concise and the TV screen was very helpful to see the demonstrations in detail. Good range of practical tasks, well paced and nice resources to use. The venue was beautiful and hosts very welcoming. I feel much more confident in my skills now!
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Hi Joanne, thank you for a lovely review. So glad you enjoyed it. Please keep painting!
Positive comments but constructive criticism and good suggestions.
A great experience with someone who knows her stuff.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thank you David for the great review! And, it has earned me my gold award, so double thanks. I am glad you enjoyed the weekend.
A great weekend. Such a lovely venue. I’m a bit of a novice at watercolours but Liz eased us into it with a progression of exercises and paintings. I’m thrilled with the results and have learnt so much. Brilliant teacher. I just wish I could show you what I’ve achieved!!
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thanks for such a lovely review Gill! I really want to see your finished landscape with it’s perfect piece of watercolour😀!
I enjoyed a splendid 2 days learning how to paint water colour paint onto canvas.Liz our Tutor was excellent and made the process seem logical, possible, and pleasurable. I am a convert. Liz was supportive at every stage and gave very detailed instruction plus very useful tips she had gained from personal experience. The studio was well lit, warm and spacious. I would definitely recommend the course and venue to friends.

The course was excellent and in a well lit studio on a beautiful farm. It was interesting and well prepared with materials all to hand. Liz's creativity and gentle encouragement really help to bring out the best.
I was very sorry that family pressures prevented me from going back on the second day of her workshop but delighted that I managed to attend the first part, at very short notice.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Hi Pip, thanks for such a lovely review and I am so glad you managed to join us. It's such a lovely way of working. Please keep trying it and hope to see you again in the near future!
I have now attended 5 of Liz Chaderton's courses.
Liz is always so well prepared in the classroom.
A lot of prep' goes into these workshops: materials, time & thought of what we will paint. Fab lunch too.
Providing a comfortable & relaxed environment with everything we may need.
I am very happy with the final painting I produced & the other pieces we practiced in class went well too.
In fact, everyone produced something they should be pleased with due to the individual feedback & support given by Liz throughout the day.
I always find Liz very approachable & when I am stuck, Liz is more than happy to help.
So overall a fab day.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Hi Jane, that's a lovely review. Thank you. I am so pleased you enjoyed the day. You are always full of energy and add lots to the workshop with your enthusiasm and positive attitude! See you soon! How's your seahorse??
Great teacher. Liz provides a well-structured and simple approach to watercolour. All materials are provided. Liz demonstrates different techniques to try and then allows the individual to try out all the techniques before creating a plan then final piece of artwork on whatever size paper the artists is comfortable with. ‘I am always delighted with the results no matter which art class I do with Liz. Highly recommended for any level of experience and for those artists who would like to loosen up their style.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thank you so much Karen for the lovely comments. I am glad you enjoyed it. I loved your final hare - did you do any more to it at home? Will see you again soon!
Liz is an excellent tutor who shows a great understanding of how to put the art of water colour over to her pupils. She manages the day well and makes the course fun as well as inspirational.
I was particularly interested in the section of the day when we learnt about how to take care when painting eyes.
I always enjoy watching Liz paint and, as a teacher myself, I appreciate how much preparation she does for the classes and how much encouragement she gives to everyone.
Can’t wait for the next one!
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thank you so much Carole for all your support. That means a lot to me and looking forward to seeing you again soon.
As a convert from acrylic painting to watercolours, I learnt so many valuable tips and techniques form Liz, how to make use of the colours, tones and how to put them on your paper, very simple once you know how!! So thanks for that Liz, the demonstrations are easy to follow and understand and offer many 'light bulb' moments. Liz herself was a great mentor for the day, and thanks to her guidance, I've sold a couple of my own paintings recently. onwards and upwards! Highly recommend, whatever level you are at :)
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thank you for such a lovely review and congratulations about selling your paintings. I think it’s a huge compliment that someone wants to live with your work every day! Really pleased you enjoyed it and hope to see you again soon.
I had a wonderful day with Liz. She is very enthusiastic and encouraging, sharing her love of painting with us. The day was extremely well organised, all materials were provided and the lunch was fabulous..a great choice for all.
Liz has a great sense of humour and generous with her time and sharing her techniques.
It was very liberating way to paint and now “eyes” have lit up on my animal paints, all thanks to Liz 😀
If you get a chance to be in one of Liz's workshops you won’t be disappointed!
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thank you so much Michèle! That’s a lovely review and I’m so glad you enjoyed the day.
I thoroughly enjoyed my painting day with Liz, we covered many aspects of watercolour techniques that Liz has made her own and was very generous in sharing them with us.
The animal eyes and tonal values were particularly useful part of the workshop.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thanks Chris! So glad you enjoyed it. That’s the first time I’ve used the tonal demonstration in a workshop, so I’m glad it was useful.
Liz is a great tutor, creating a lovely warm, relaxed atmosphere conducive to making us creative. She’s well prepared and clear in all her instructions and has the perfect balance of encouragement and constructive critique.
Response from Liz Chaderton Artist:Thank you so much for taking the time to review the weekend. I’m glad you enjoyed it and hope to see you in 2020!
Liz is an inspiring tutor who makes learning painless with her supportive and informed approach. Lovely venue and a small group allowing for plenty of individual attention.
