I am really excited about this workshop. Capturing people in watercolour, is a great way of producing a lively portrait.
We will look at how to pose people, take photos to work from and then go on to paint portraits. This day is all about painting, rather than drawing so we will be working from photos not a live model and we will explore transfer techniques - if Vermeer used the Camera Obscura, then we are allowed to use modern equivalents (in my opinion). We will explore both layering to build realistic skin tones and high energy portraits with a more jazzy vibe. I can't wait!!
Liz wrote a series of seven articles on portraits for the Leisure Painter magazine in 2020.
The course will be held at Knowl Hill near Twyford, Berkshire, to provide you with an inspiring and relaxing environment. All materials are provided, along with refreshments.
No experience is needed to fully enjoy the day. If you already love painting in watercolours you will be provided with plenty of stimulation! Liz will let everyone go at their own pace to get the most out of the day.
Our venue is Micklems Farm in Knowl Hill. During lockdown Micklems refurbished the studio putting in new flooring to facilitate cleaning, new desks to help with social distancing and a camera system to enable demonstrations at a greater distance. Lunch is no longer included to prevent cross contamination. During good weather there is wonderful outside space to be enjoyed. Cleanliness and hand washing is actively encouraged. If you are not feeling well or are self isolating, please do not attend. In turn, the tutor promises not to teach if not well or isolating. If I am unable to teach I will of course refund you in full.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 8 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All materials and refreshments are included.
