The hushed atmosphere of Lee's professional lino printing studio. Ambitious I thought for one day, how to have four colours in your reduction lino print. Fully absorbed, relaxed and made doable by Lee.
Hadn’t done anything like this since school days very many years ago. But with Lee’s help I learned much more than then.....how to hold the cutters, what kinds of pressure to use, how to use the roller and mix the colours....all quite new to me. Was astonished at the resulting image that I produced, all in a very supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Thanks so much for a really great day that got me out of myself. Am sure I’ll be back for more before too long.
I had a great day in the studio with Lee and the others attending the Lino Printing course. Lee is very easy going and encourages all participants, before you know it you are working and learning without any lecture style tuition. We all got the benefit of Lee's obvious techincal knowledge and enthusiasm for print making and art in general. All the attendees were guided and encouraged but ultimately able to make their own choices and everyone ended up with their own bespoke print at the end of the day. The venue was great - I really liked the 'studio' vibe - seeing other works in progress. I would like to book further courses.
Response from Lee Wright Artist:
It was great to spend the day with you Gary and the rest of the 'gang'. Look forward to seeing you again later in the year...LeeLee was inspiring, teaching a mixed group including beginners with no art experience and others, with backgrounds in art and design. Everyone finished their work and took prints home. He gave each of us focussed individual support as needed. Thank you Lee, I’ll be back!
Response from Lee Wright Artist:

Lee, made everyone very welcome to his beautiful studio. He has a lovely warm and relaxing way of imparting his knowledge and passion, no question was too silly or a problem. Lee, offered everyone equal tuition, advice and encouragement throughout to enable all to achieve some amazing results in just a day.
Highly recommended, you'll learn so much and be inspired to do more.
Thanks, I'll be back.
Response from Lee Wright Artist:
It was great to meet you Steven, you clearly got the knack of lino printing quickly. Looking forward to sharing more artistic adventures with you...I really enjoyed my venture back into the art world on Lee's course.
The location is idyllic and the set up is fantastic. Being surrounded by so many works of art whilst creating my own was just inspiring.
Lee is clearly a very talented painter who has a really relaxed nature about the way he teachers. Tailoring the teaching to each individual and creating an almost family atmosphere within the studio where everyone is supportive of everyone else.
I really enjoyed this course and would recommend it for anyone, be you a complete novice or someone on par with Van Gogh.
Response from Lee Wright Artist:
It was great to meet you Cath and I'm glad you enjoyed the day. I do hope it is the start of your artistic journey.I attended Lee's Lino Printing course this week and I just want to say a huge "Thank you" to Lee for sharing his knowledge and creativity with me. The course was beyond brilliant ... I just wish it was for 2 days ... I didn't want to stop! Lee has brought back creativity into my life which has been lacking for such a long time and for that I cannot thank him enough!
I will definitely be booking onto future courses with Lee ... but next time ... 2 days!
Lee is an excellent tutor and makes you feel immediately relaxed and confident in the process.
I have had lino cutting tools delivered this morning ... I cannot wait to get cracking with my next print!
Response from Lee Wright Artist:
It was a pleasure to welcome you to my studio Suz and help you learn the reduction lino printing process. You made a lovely print and I hope you keep it up!What a great day! Learnt so much about colours and how to mix them to get the desired nuance which was great fun. Lee was respectful and encouraging, giving just enough tuition to guide us in the right direction with expertise advice. I was astonished at the result at the end of the day, had such an enjoyable time with great company. Thank you!
Response from Lee Wright Artist:
It was great to meet you Eva and glad you had such a good day. You should be very proud of the beautiful prints that you made. LeeThe Cwmdu studios are the perfect setting for a day of learning and creativity. Lee is a great teacher- giving us enough information to keep us on track but not overwhelming us. I did come out at the end of the day wishing I could do it all over again it was so enjoyable. I learned SO much. I also came away with four prints. Bonus!
Just had an excellent day with Lee, who took myself and 2 other novices through the process of creating a landscape using lino print. Whilst it felt like a really relaxed day we all managed to create a multi layered lino print that whilst bearing some resemblance to the pictures we had brought along as inspiration, also had our own interpretation of the landscape. A great introduction to lino print, and sufficient knowledge transferred to enable us to be able to develop this further if we wish.
This is a really excellent workshop. I came to the day with no knowledge or experience of Lino printing and left with an appreciation of what a beautiful art form this is. The studio is a great space and Lee is an incredibly knowledgeable and patient tutor and his own artwork is wonderful. We were guided in how to mix, choose and think about colour and were taken step by step through building the layers of our prints. Lee was postive and encouraging throughout the day. If you are a complete beginner like me or a have knowledge and experience you would like to build this is an excellent day that I would highly recommend.
As a complete novice to lino printing I didn’t know what to expect from the day but I was really delighted. Lee took our class of 6 gently through the process, working at our pace and giving encouragement every step of the way. The old school is a comfortable environment with log burners and plentiful tea and coffee. The day went very quickly and I was amazed at what we’d all achieved! I would recommend to anyone new to the process or wanting to learn more: you’re surrounded by Lee’s work and it’s very inspiring!
Had a great day at Humble By Nature for the 1 day Lino printing course with Lee. You get through a lot in one day covering all the processes involved for Lino printing, with multiple layers. Lees experience and understanding of technique and colour means he is able to assist everyone with their projects throughout the day so you get the most out of it and you develop your prints layer by layer.
Response from Lee Wright Artist:

Thanks Neil,I had a great day in Lee's print studio. The building itself is nostalgic and is a brilliant venue. Very comfortable communal space, has a relaxed atmosphere and has the perfect ambience for inspiration and creativity.
Lee was very friendly as well as hospitable and generous. I enjoyed the print room experience very much. Wonderful to be in an artist's working space and to be able to see the pieces in various stages of completion and be around the beautifully finished prints too.
Will definitely be returning to learn more.

Thank you for your kind words Hafwen. It was a pleasure to spend the day with you and all the other students and to help you make your wonderful prints.Very enjoyable day at Lee's lovely studio which is a really nice space to work in, made even better by the log burner. Learnt so much - Lee was a very patient, knowledgeable and approachable teacher and used examples of his own work to help us understand techniques, composition etc. Hope to return again.
I attended the Fundamentals of oil painting course on 28th of November with five others. Hugely educational for me, a complete beginner in relaxed non competitive environment. This is an excellent introduction to oil painting identifying the many aspects that one needs to explore including composition, drawing, tone and colour. I can recommend doing the fundamentals to drawing class beforehand as the oils class built on skills learnt there. I can thoroughly recommend if you have any anxiety about putting brush to canvas and want a baseline for further tuition.
I thoroughly enjoyed the lino printing workshop. Lovely venue in a beautiful part of the world.
Lee explained everything well and was really helpful and patient as he guided us through print making.
I was thrilled to be able to produce a print and to take 4 copies home with me.
Thank you very much Lee, hope to return soon to make some more prints.
