Paul Bennett reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"I can't recommend this course enough. My 19 year old daughter and I were trying something completely new and didn't know what to expect as this was a joint birthday gift. In a lovely setting and with Jo's excellent tuition and gentle guidance we both left clutching hares to be proud of. The day was well planned and flowed smoothly, everything needed was always to hand. Jo's garden and studio provide a relaxing environment and we quickly lost track of time as we focused our newly discovered creative talents! Many thanks to Jo for a truly wonderful day."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Paul - it was lovely meeting you and your daughter. You both made fabulous sculptures. I'm looking forward to seeing photo's of the Dog and Huggy Hare you will be making at home using the armatures you made in the afternoon. Jo x"

Diana Heather Kirkham reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"I had a wonderful experience constructing a hare under Jo's guidance. The one day course was structured, informative, well led and most of all, FUN. I came away satisfied and amazed at how much I had learned about a process completely new to me. Not only did I come away with a beautiful sculpture, Jo supplied a pack containing a felt base plus a small pot of paint and brush in case touch ups were needed. A complete package and good value. Thank you."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much Diana ;-) Your hare's ears were fabulous! I love the way that no two people's sculptures end up anything the same - they are always individual and lovely. Thank you for appreciating the after-care kit! I look forward to seeing you & Karen at the Abstract Art workshop. Prepare for another adventure ;-) Jo x"

Betty reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"Well I was completely out of my comfort zone even thinking about doing an art class especially abstract art and thought I would end up with something that my friends would look at and smile politely - instead they have looked at my finished work with disbelief and I have even had a few "Wows" ! I had an entirely enjoyable day with Jo who guides you through the process calmly and recognises when it's time for you to have a little walk around the lovely garden when you get an "artist's block" . A coffee and some chocolate (provided by Jo !) will soon get you back on track.Would thoroughly recommend this course especially for sceptics like me ! Thank you Jo x"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Betty ;-) really glad you enjoyed stepping outside of your comfort zone! Your work will brighten up the hallway you were planning to hang it. Hope to see you again, Jo x"

Bob Ditton reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"Wow what fun and who knew I had the artistic ability to produce a barn owl ! An absolutely great weekend in which I learnt new skills, met new friends and shared some time with my son who taught me being creative is a really wonderful way to escape the stress of work. Jo was an excellent teacher who provided a relaxed environment in which you had the freedom to make mistakes but also see results. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to try something different - you will be really surprised just how much enjoyment you can get from wire, clay and paint. Loved it - thanks Jo."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much for this great review Bob - I really enjoyed spending time with you and Elliot. You both produced really different sculptures and I'm so glad you managed to relax and switch off. Your owl was lovely ;-) Jo x"

Sue reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"As a novice of craft experiences I can honestly say that I am now a convert to the hands on making of abstract art. The set up of the whole day was first class. The studio, equipment, Jo’s teaching and our outputs made for a really enjoyable experience. Give it a go - bring some colour to these dark days!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Sue! Loved your Mediterranean colours - will look very striking against white walls. Glad you enjoyed the experience, Jo ;-)"

Steve Hall reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"I was the only bloke on our course and Jo ( and the others ) made it a really good and enjoyable experience. Jo has a wealth of knowledge in this subject and was a great teacher running the course at a nice pace and the range of tools and equipment in her studio was vast. She also made some great suggestions that enhanced the final product. I would recommend this experience to anybody even if you have tried something similar before or you’re a complete novice like me. Take the plunge and give it a go!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Steve! Really glad you enjoyed the day - your Jackson Pollock inspired work was great ;-) Looking forward to seeing you again to do a sculpture. Jo x"

Monica reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"I attended, Jo’s abstract art course, which was my first workshop of this nature for some time, i.e. since high school, and I have only one word for the facilities, refreshments and of course guided art direction as brilliant! I would further add that as a women of colour I was made to feel extremely welcome and thoroughly enjoyed the day’s experience. I plan to do another course in sculpture next and simply can’t wait to get stuck in !!!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Monica! Your work was amazing - so vibrant and well thought out. Really glad you enjoyed the day and look forward to seeing you on a sculpture workshop ;-) Jo x"

Rachael reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"I love to be creative so when I saw this workshop I was very keen to attend. I went with an idea of a colour scheme but no idea how or what I was going to do. Jo's instructions were so easy to follow and, with a little help from Jo, I created an amazing masterpiece that I am so pleased with. The day was so relaxing and peaceful, I enjoyed it so much and I can't wait to do it again soon. Thank you so much for an amazing day!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thanks Rachael! I loved your grey tones and adding tiny touches of yellow/orange just lifted it. Job well done! Looking forward to seeing you again, Jo x"

Pauline reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"What a lovely way to spend a Sunday! I decided to take the plunge and join an abstract art workshop. I always loved art at school but have never really had the time to be creative, having worked full time for many years and bringing up my Son. Upon arrival I was shown my workstation and the canvas which I had already chosen. Jo introduced me to various techniques and different stages of the process which enabled me to create a totally bespoke piece which was brilliant in itself, but also matched the colour scheme of my home. I was able to work with beautiful colours and different paints which I would never have bought myself as they are very expensive for a beginner. The Canvas even had hooks and string so you could just hang it up when you got home. It was a perfect introduction to abstract art. Every part of this workshop had been lovingly prepared and meticulously thought out. Jo is a superb instructor and her love of the craft is so infectious. It’s also a brilliant way to socialise with friends, new and old, and I couldn’t recommend it enough!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Pauline! Bringing the swatch of furniture fabric really helped link tones together, and thank you for sending the photo of your art in place - it looks fabulous ;-) Jo x"

Jane Langley reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"Absorbing, relaxing and the opportunity to use lots of new products. The room was already set up when I arrived with workstations well over 2 metres apart. There was 4 of us in the workshop, all new to abstract art. We started with a small piece of practice work where Jo demonstrated on her own piece and we followed. She showed us lots of different methods to move the paint around and create original marks. Then we worked on our main pieces with Jo in the background if help was needed. The day went so quickly and I ended up with two lovely paintings which have already been put up in my garden room. I really recommend this workshop, not only because you take home paintings ready to hang up, but because of how mentally relaxed you feel. It set me up for a very 'chilled' weekend which was much needed."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Jane ;-) I also find my mind relaxes when painting. Loved the greens, white and silver in your work - the photo you sent shows how well they blend into your garden room. Jo x"

Jackie reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"I travelled 65 miles to attend this workshop and it was worth every mile. I've dabbled with art on and off for a long time and am not really into abstract as such, but wanted to loosen my style. This was the perfect opportunity. Jo has a huge range of different products to test out and she encouraged us to experiment and showed lots of tips and tricks. I now know how to keep my acrylic paints from drying out! I ended up with three pieces of work (the little trial square and two long pieces) that coordinate with colours in my sofa. Jo had provided hangers so I managed to put them up the next day. I'm now hooked into a completely different style of painting which is laid back and extremely fun to do (there was lots of laughter during the day). Thanks Jo - my style has been loosened!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Jackie - lovely work - glad to have 'loosened' your style ;-) I do appreciate how odd it feels to use spatulas instead of paint brushes and not to follow precise detail. Jo x"

Yvonne Martin reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"This is the second art workshop I’ve attended, the first was the Hare Sculpture workshop and now Abstract Art. Jo has done it again! What a great day with and so much learnt. With Jo’s instruction I experienced how to use different types of mediums and techniques to create my first masterpiece, which is proudly displayed in my hallway. The whole day was fun and very relaxed, and the time just flew by."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Lovely to see you again Yvonne and thank you for your review ;-) So glad you enjoyed the day - your work in shades of pinks was beautiful. Jo x"

Lizzy reviewed: Abstract Art Workshop with Jo Garden Art in a beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"I could not recommend this workshop highly enough. As someone who doesn’t feel naturally creative or confident with colour, I was apprehensive about being bold and abstract. However, Jo was fantastic and made me feel enthusiastic and comfortable – it is a beautiful space to work in and the setting is really inspiring. The workshop taught me how to layer up an abstract painting using various techniques, tools, colour and of course a touch of gold and silver! It was a really fun and well organised day, and great fun to paint with a group and share ideas. I look forward to going again!"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much Lizzy ;-) I'm glad you overcame your initial apprehension - having a pallet knife instead of a paint brush works wonders! Would love to see you back again, Jo x"

Jacqui Harris reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"I attended a course with Jo (and Andy) on Sunday 12th July. The setting was tranquil and relaxing. Likewise, the activity was also fun and relaxing. Jo was clear, informative (and patient) and I am delighted that with her guidance I was able to produce a hare! Jo ensured that everyone felt comfortable (especially in regard to how things are at the present time). I would highly recommend this course... you don't have to have any experience and Jo will take you through everything... step by step."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much for your review Jacqui ;-). It was a lovely day with great company! Fabulous hares were made. Hope to see you again soon, Jo x"

Terry Reeves reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"Attended the 1 day course on Saturday 11 July for, what turned out to be a superbly informal and fun day! Jo & Andy are great hosts & very welcoming. As the first class since ‘Covid’ restrictions have been lifted we were a small group of 3 working in a beautifully tranquil & airy studio. The plan of the day is explained & then the fun begins. There is guidance at every stage & help if you need it. I not only managed to consume a vast quantity of Jo’s chocolate supplies but came away with a lovely hare that will always remind me of the day. We are all hoping to meet up again soon on a 2 day workshop with Jo."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much Terry ;-) It was lovely to work with you on my first day back after the Covid shutdown and I'm looking forward to seeing you again in August for an even bigger masterpiece! You did not quite clean out the chocolate supplies - I'm sitting here munching on Maltesers as I type, Jo x ;-)"

"What a wonderful experience in a relaxed and very friendly atmosphere. As someone with little artistic creativity, I am very pleased indeed with my moon-gazing hare and very grateful for Jo’s gentle guidance. A fabulous day with lovely people, I highly recommend it. Thank you Jo."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Helen! Everyone has a wisp of creativity and it was great working with you on your moon gazing hare with a lazy leg! Fabulous ;-)"

Francesca Gilpin reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"What a wonderful weekend! In a beautiful setting with a well equipped studio, Jo provides a warm and welcoming environment and is incredibly generous with her time and expertise. She guided us all through the steps required to create our individual sculptures with simple instructions and clarity, offering help when needed but also allowing our own creative process to blossom. My leaping hare sculpture has exceeded my expectations and I am looking forward to placing it in my garden. Thanks also to Andy who helped pack it securely in my campervan! I shall be recommending this course to friends and very much hope to do another one with Jo."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much Francesca - and so pleased you and your beautiful hare had an uneventful journey back home in your gorgeous campervan ;-) I look forward to seeing you again and perhaps we can have a play with cold wax painting!"

Robert Todd reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"An absolutely brilliant weekend. Having arrived with zero experience and a head full of dreams and aspirations, Jo and Andy literally encouraged, guided and gently taught me all the stages and techniques to realise and create a garden sculpture that has genuinely exceeded all expectations. In a beautiful relaxed location and well equipped studio, they have created a warm, welcoming and the most friendly atmosphere, where all participants can not fail to be inspired. Thank you so much. It's an experience I shall never forget. I will remember my weekend of being a sculptor every time I look at my 'running man'. :-)"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you for your lovely review Robert ;-) It was a pleasure working with you and your homage to the world record marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge was truly fabulous. I can't wait to see a picture of him in his final position in your garden!"

peggy reviewed: Sculpture workshop two days with Jo Garden Art in beautiful rural Norfolk/Suffolk border setting

"Had great fun on both of Jo’s courses and produced some very pleasing sculptures. Lovely location and good company (inc the dogs!)"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Peggy! Your tall Giacometti handstand man as re-inspired me to make another version myself for the front garden - much to Andy's horror it's likely to be over 6 feet tall and then put onto a high stand ;-) ;-) ;-)"

Elizabeth Cherry reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"Thank you Jo for your wonderful sculpture day and hospitality. Very good communication prior to the day and directions made it easy to find the location, despite storm Dennis making his presence known. The day was a present for my birthday and I really could not have had a nicer day. Being a small group of six made for a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and the workshop was held in a spacious, modern garden studio within the beautiful gardens of the teacher’s home. Jo is a warm and inspiring teacher who prepares well and explains every stage of the construction really well. I picked up lots of new sculpting techniques which I shall continue to develop at home. Such an excellent day which felt like a day with the family. So pleased with my sculpture. Can’t think of a better way to spend a special day. Thank you Jo."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you so much Elizabeth ;-) I did spend most of the Saturday night praying storm Dennis would not scupper our power supply! Really glad you enjoyed your birthday present and went away with some new techniques ... keep sculpting! Jo x"

Sandra reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"Myself and my friend Julie attended this course at the weekend. I have to say it was a delightful day in so many ways. We were part of a lovely group of fellow sculptors, with several laughs, amongst periods of deep concentration. Jo is a superb teacher and lovely host, and her husband and dear little dogs were equally welcoming (Olive the cat was a little more aloof , but gorgeous anyway). All the hares produced on the day were magnificent ! Kim Haredashian now has pride of place on the bookcase . Thanks so much Jo :)"

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Sandra - Kim Haredashian was bootylishish! So glad you and Julie had a great day. Olive has just had chicken for breakfast so is having 5 minutes of friendliness before the scowl returns ;-) xx"

Baz & Jacqui Wilkinson reviewed: Hare Sculpture workshop with Jo Garden Art in beautiful Norfolk/Suffolk

"We did this workshop as a couple as it was bought as a birthday present for me. A perfect gift for so many reasons; a chance to explore a new form of art, to spend time together and to create great and lasting memories as well as a hare each. We both made a hare that we are very proud of and will cherish. In fact all 6 of us on the course made lovely hares... a testament to Jo’s teaching and enthusiasm. A lovely warm welcome from all the family... including the four legged, furry ones. A good location too. Definitely recommend and excellent value for money. We were absolute beginners and we managed to make a pair of hares. Thank you Jo."

Jo Garden Art responded:

"Thank you Baz & Jacqui - so glad you enjoyed your birthday surprise! I will be posting a photo on my website of the fabulous scrolled designs you made on the side of your hare - a wonderful idea! Jo x"
