Jenni has shared traditional rag rug techniques of hooking, progging and plaiting for many years. She believes in re-using, sourcing locally and treading lightly on the planet.
Whilst bringing rag rug making into the twenty-first century, Jenni honours the generations of ordinary people who used their cast-off clothing to make warm mats and loves helping people to explore their creativity through such an accessible medium at courses locally and around the country.
Lovely venue at Trumpet Corner and very friendly course run by Jenni. We were a small group and chatted away to new friends whilst learning all about progging and hooking. Lots of opportunities to ask questions as we tried out techniques using different fabrics. Came away with lots of ideas and more confidence to start a project. Jenni is a real expert and it was a privilege to learn from her experience.
I attended this course to give me ideas for my GCSE Textiles project; I came away from the course with all the knowledge of how to make the rag rugs and full of inspiration for my final piece. Jenni was amazing and very helpful. The venue was easy to find, with lots of parking and the food was delicious. Every one who attended the course was really friendly.
I attended a Rag Rug workshop course run by Jenni Stuart-Anderson 5 - 7 April held at Huntlands Farm, so the course and accommodation were at the same place - excellent.
Jenni's teaching and coaching were excellent and has given me the skills to continue with the craft with confidence.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course, having wanted to try this craft for some time, but not having the confidence to start by myself. We were a small group and Jenni's relaxed, friendly demeanour made it very easy to learn the various styles of rag-rugging, giving me the confidence I needed to continue this new skill. Also the venue, The Guildhouse, Stanton, was amazing. Made the learning all the more enjoyable !
Response from Jenni's Rag Rugs:
I enjoyed the day too. Thanks for your review Pauline and I'd be happy to put a picture of your work on my website. Keep on progging!
