"Great course, great situation, great teacher and the weather was kind also! Learnt a lot from Ged who had a great balance of letting you do as much as you can but also helping us where necessary. Covered a huge amount in a short time. I definitely have workshop envy! And the company was also great. Definitely plan to do another course."

Gedwood responded:

"Ah, many thanks John. Glad you enjoyed the day. And hope to see you again on a course👍 "

The course itself is excellent with high quality tools and natural materials supplied, moreover Ged is an excellent tutor who is highly skilled and has infinite patience. All in all a wonderful experience which was relaxing and therapeutic, with the added bonus of a lovely handcrafted stool to take away. Highly recommended!"

Peter Rattenbury reviewed: Cleft ash gate making with Gedwood

"Had a really good course going back to basic woodworking techniques. Ged was a calming influence when things didn’t go as planned, providing clear instructions and helpful support. The second day proved to be a great team building event as all five of us helped one another finish our gate at roughly the same time . Overall a great weekend. Three of us took an Airbnb at the Coffee Pot in Dufftown, visited The Commercial pub, ate in the Indian across the road, and had a Chinese takeaway, all excellent and highly recommended"

Gedwood responded:

"Many thanks Peter. Glad you enjoyed the gate making course and Dufftown's fine cuisine!👍Thanks Ged"

"Excellent course. After spending nearly all my time with electrical woodworking tools it was great to just get back to basics and learn how to use traditional tools and green stock to start creating simple functional items. Ged creates a relaxed, supportive environment for everyone regardless of experience. "

Dorothy Dominy reviewed: Log to Stool with Gedwood

"Thoroughly enjoyed the log to stool course with Ged on Sunday. I was apprehensive on arrival with the array of tools on show. The first demonstration of using an axe to split your log didn't quell my concerns. But Ged has a calming way with him and under his guidance and with a fair bit of banter and encouragement within our group we all tackled each stage of the process. It's really wonderful how good you feel when you look at the finished article. A great day our with a beautiful wee stool to take home at the end of it all. "

Gedwood responded:

"Glad you enjoyed the stool making Dorothy. Was a good day of learning and banter!😊👍"

Kenneth McLuckie reviewed: Log to Stool with Gedwood

"Having received this experience as a birthday gift, I was unsure what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised to discover the activity took place outside in a rustic workshop using only hand tools in a friendly environment. A description and use of the tools was demonstrated by Ged before being let loose on our logs. He then supervised our attempts offering advice and encouragement where necessary. Overall a very pleasant day was experienced with a wooden stool to take away as a memory. I really enjoyed the whole experience and would recommend it to others. "

Gedwood responded:

"Many thanks Kenneth. Glad you enjoyed the workshop.👍"

Nick Riley reviewed: Log to Stool with Gedwood

"Keeping Greenwood crafting skills alive is exactly what Ged is doing. Located in a purpose built workspace with exceptional tools, maintained to perfection and very sharp, but with safety talks, all the tricks and details and methodology, it’s just great. To create something you can take away and admire is superb. The world needs more GED’s and sharing his expertise is keeping greenwood working alive. Thanks Ged! Nick"

Gedwood responded:

"And thank you Nick for a good day's banter and creativity!"

Peter Austin reviewed: Cleft ash gate making with Gedwood

"This was my second course with Ged, the first being a fortnight earlier making a shave horse. On both occasions it was a great pleasure to learn and work with his traditional tools, which he had obviously spent many hours sharpening and honing. The ash shavings virtually fell away from the work piece. I thoroughly recommend anyone even vaguely interested to take advantage of one of Ged’s courses, you won’t regret it! He takes a stall at various outdoor events and will be happy to elaborate. "

Gedwood responded:

"Thanks very much Peter. Glad you enjoyed the gate making course, and happy shaving on the shavehorse!"
