Kate Bull reviewed: Friday mosaic making

"I had never done any mosaic before, but I really enjoyed this half day course and felt it was very good value. Tea, coffee and materials in plentiful supply and Audrey is on hand to give advice and explain techniques if needed. Many people there had obviously done it before, so she does not necessarily 'teach' everyone, but is on hand for newbies to get you started. I will definitely come again!"

Kevin B reviewed: Woodturning courses in Norfolk

"Was bought a gift voucher for my birthday & am a complete beginner in anything to do with wood. Had a great day with Nick, & of course the lovely Jane. Learnt about the lathes, the workshop, safety in the shop, the tools, the basic skills, & finishing. Came away with a lovely bowl at the end. Really chuffed. Am busy now trying to plan to convert my shed into a workshop now!!! Can't recommend the day with Nick highly enough; am definitely going to go back to Nick for further teaching when I get up & running. Big thumbs up!"

Venetia Herzmark reviewed: Greenwood stool making courses at Greenwood Days

"What a lovely way of spending a week! I had never picked up a chisel, let alone a wood shaver, yet after 7 days working hard ,in a beautiful wood I have a fine windsor chair at which I stare lovingly, at the end of each day. Peter is great teacher , incredibly patient and good humoured . What he achieved with this student is quite astonishing. Add to this ,being under the trees all day, the best home made bread & soup for lunch and countless cups of tea and you have a perfect relaxing ,as well as very productive, holiday."

Lorna Bucknall reviewed: Upholstery - Level 1

"I cannot recommend this course highly enough with the wonderful Ann. I had never done an upholstery course before but the way Ann interacts with you, explains and shows you the processes I was soon picking it up in no time! Now I have the bug and intend on darkening Ann's door many more times in the future. Not only for the upholstery but she has the cutest beagle pup called Tiggy. Tiggy time! X"

Ian Harris reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"I did a two day course with Mark, with the objective of producing a satisfactory box and bowl. Both were achieved, thanks to Mark's patient and knowledgeable teaching, and I was well pleased with the result. Mark is very good at achieving without necessarily sticking slavishly to text-book principles, and also helpful on what tools to buy - and which to avoid. He is a professional and an enthusiast, and I expect to return for another session once my skills have improved. Thoroughly recommended."

Derryn Snowdon reviewed: Greenwood stool making courses at Greenwood Days

"I had been looking for a quirky kitchen high stool and couldn't find one so when I found Peter Greenwood through Art in Action festival, I approached him with my request. Peter was supportive immediately even though I was going to be doing something different to the group I joined. I had no previous experience but a lot of enthusiasm. Peter is a natural teacher with bucket loads of experience. He makes it easy to learn and can adapt to different levels of students. I had a wonderful time learning and making my high stool. Working with natural wood and tools brings us back to our essential nature and is just so good for the soul. I highly recommend this course for anyone wanting to try their hand at crafting wood and with a willingness to let go and surprise themselves!"

Chris Bowler reviewed: Beginners Candlemaking for Two - Anglesey, Wales

"I had never made a candle before but I was willing to learn. With Anita’s tuition I found the experience brilliant and I was really pleased with the Christmas tree candle I made. In the workshop housed in an historic building, among friends, this was an excellent way to end our WI year. The bonus of a lovely tea served on decorative china completed a memorable evening. I shall certainly recommend and hope to attend other sessions."

julia reviewed: Wild basketry- workshop in the woods, forage your materials

"This is the second workshop I have done with Ruby - what a wonderfully gifted teacher! So much care is taken over the whole weekend - from making fires, to foraging the plants, and imparting valuable knowledge in such a clear and kind way. And weaving is glorious! It's so satisfying... what a wonderful way to learn to make a basket. I can't wait to try to make one myself now!"

"I went to Anita's workshop with friends and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We each made a Christmas tree candle and as we had never done this sort of thing before, with Anita's guidance we all felt we had achieved a new skill! The session itself was relaxed and a lot of fun. I would certainly consider attending one of her workshops again."

Tony and Glenda Snailham reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"What to do to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary, a big question and one that had to be memorable! It was a no brainer as we both work in our chosen crafts - Glenda makes jewellery and I put my hand to wood turning, love spoons and wooden jewellery which Glenda enhances with her skills. We booked three wonderful days at Lucy's studio and decided in advance what we wanted to make, Glenda decided on a simple silver and enamelled necklace and I a Celtic ring; a little ambitious? Lucy was supportive from the beginning before we arrived by supplying us with all the advice and literature in preparation of our visit, her encouragement and knowledge was inspiring and exciting. Our stay with Lucy was so comfortable we felt part of the family and her patience and attention to detail and processes helped us in the production of our selected projects. I knew from the outset that my project was ambitious and doubted whether I would end up with something to show for my labours, my main focus was my wife's passion to create a design she so wanted to complete. Lucy's encouragement and vast experience and knowledge brought us to the completion of our projects, Glenda's beautiful designed silver and enamelled pendant was awesome and my Celtic designed copper ring was well on its way to completion. Our choice of celebration was well spent with Lucy and the knowledge and techniques we acquired has set us both on the road to designing and making precious metal jewellery in the future. A most enjoyable and memorable three days, no better way to celebrate our anniversary. Hope to return next year. Thanks Lucy for your hospitality and friendship."

Diane Roome reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"Lucy's workshop days are excellent value for money. I have just completed two days tuition with her which were both packed with information, skills training and guidance. Lucy is a great teacher who helps build confidence whilst helping you to develop your skills. I wanted to build on my very basic silversmithing ability and was able to do so more quickly than I thought possible. I am now going to arrange another day to build on what I have learnt so far. Lucy is incredibly generous in sharing her knowledge and tips. I brought a lot of information away with me all of which is invaluable."

Christine Ryan reviewed: Landscapes in Fleece

"Thank you for such an enjoyable day basket weaving Sally. You were so approachable, informative and helpful, particularly to complete beginners as myself! The pace and instruction were perfect. I never imagined we'd complete a whole basket in a day! The atmosphere was made extra special by the Gathering fields location.....lovely and cozy with a large wood burning stove and fleece blankets for extra warmth if needed. Food was a bonus with a lovely Christmas atmosphere. I would love to do more! Many thanks again I really enjoyed the learning experience and the final basket"
