Anthea reviewed: Spoon carving in the woods

"This was a really relaxing course to do with friends. We loved the mindfulness element. Suz was a great teacher. My only thought is we could have done with an extra 30 mins to allow for a short lunch break and to make maximum use of the tools provided to complete the spoon on site. Or maybe we were just slow workers ! The sanding is easy to do at home. "

Leanne O'Neill reviewed: Alla Prima Portrait in Oils

"I've never been to Medlam's Farm before, so it was a pleasure to turn up for an oil painting class and see the gardens before it started. The class was very well organised, with lots of room for all attendees, and they served refreshments and cake throughout the day. Our tutor Mick was fantastic, taking the time (for us newbies to oil) walking through the principles of the medium and providing books and examples on Alla Prima. He was very knowledgeable - a superb artist in his own right - and ensured the pace of the lesson (and support throughout class) was considered. It was an extremely enjoyable day, and I would highly recommend these classes to all."

S Sheh reviewed: Furniture making and Cabinetry beginners course

"I decided to join Jake’s course having close to zero experience with woodworking, and had the best day which felt like a “mind reset”. Jake’s genuineness shows through his patience in teaching, his tailoring to individual needs and dedication to the craft. Thank you for holding my hand as I took enthusiastic toddler steps, taking extra time to go through tools unrelated to the project, too. I went home with a beautiful wooden bench- now a centrepiece within my humble abode, an affirmation to invest in the hobby, and the associated memories of joy from a day filled with deep conversations and hearty laughter."

Fiona C reviewed: Make a spindle-back chair

"What a wonderful 5 days! Peter is a natural tutor. The small group allowed Peter to provide 1-2-1 guidance as and when necessary. I am absolutely delighted to come away with a finished chair! The course is set-up in a lovely location with ample parking at the bottom of the track. Tea/coffee and lunch were included. I would highly recommend this green woodworking course as a lovely break to get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life! Thank you, Peter, for a wonderful week! "

Green Ash Chairs responded:

Ellie Savidge reviewed: Powertex Raven, Owl, Penguin or Puffin- Fabric Sculpture - by Inky Escapades

"Having never tried Powertex before, Karen was an excellent tutor explaining step by step how to create a crow. She explained the way the material behaves and how to get the best from it and the creative thought behind what she does. The time whizzed by, having started at 10am and finished at 6pm! We then came back to paint him for another couple of hours two days later. Brilliant value for money and a lovely relaxing way to spend a day being creative. Absolutely recommend this course! Thanks to Karen for her patience, careful instruction and lovely hospitality. "

Inky Escapades responded:

"Hi Ellie Thank you so very much for your glowing review. I really loved having you both here in the studio and I think you both did an amazing job with your Raven /Crows. Such character was introduced in both. No one would ever know you had never used Powertex before. Spending time being creative is so good for the Soul. "

"After reading the good reviews the long journey from the Highlands was well worth it, I did the one day course with Gary and can’t thank him enough for his patience and you can tell he loves his job as his enthusiasm and his encouragement is passed on through his teaching. I was over the moon to go home with a beautiful rose that sat in a vase which was on a wee stand with a handle, I am so proud of it and will be back for 2 day course soon. Thank you Gary for a fantastic day "
