Julia reviewed: Candle making workshops for beginners - St Albans, Hertfordshire

"Loved the course & Anne was a great tutor who gave us lots of information. I had no idea about the techniques of candle making & once you have this information ( from an expert) this is something anyone can do at home. I'm really smitten by the candle making bug. We made 4 different candles & melts all with our chosen Christmas scents. Thank you Anne"

Rowland Hills reviewed: Blacksmithing: make a rams head poker

"This was the second course I’ve done with Adrian (and Andy and Debbie). I made a rams head roasting fork, which looks fab. It was a really fun day, and the food was excellent (baked potatoes, veg chilli and local cheese, plus a lovely dessert too). The guys are very helpful and demonstrate things clearly. A real mix of ability and experience but they managed it well. I’ll definitely be back again in future to make something else. "

Following the course have now been inspired to create items by myself. As a suggestion, it would be great if the course commenced earlier to enable people coming from afar to do the course and get home at a reasonable hour. Thanks very much indeed."

Jesse reviewed: Automata, mechanical toy & kinetic sculpture at artist's workshop: 4 classes

"I recently completed an automata course, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the experience. Tom, the instructor, was exceptionally helpful, knowledgeable, and kind. His deep understanding of the subject made complex concepts easier to grasp, and he was always patient with my questions. Tom also brought the subject to life with various small automata models that demonstrated the structure and functionality in a hands-on way, making the learning experience more engaging and practical. What I also appreciate is his flexibility with scheduling—he accommodated my availability, making it possible for me to fully engage with the course material. If you’re looking for a comprehensive and well-supported automata course, I highly recommend learning from Tom!"

Sophie Jago reviewed: Blacksmithing Experience Day - Introduction

" I had the most incredible experience on this blacksmithing course, which was given to me as a birthday present. Giles is a fantastic teacher, breaking down the process with patience and enthusiasm, making it approachable for a complete beginner like me. Under his guidance I was able to make a beautiful flower ornament which I absolutely love. The setting of the forge itself was beautiful, out in the countryside with a lovely cafe opposite. Enso, the forge dog, added an extra layer of charm to the experience. His friendliness made the day even more special. I can’t recommend this course enough. Whether you're a novice or already have some experience, Giles’ passion and skill make it an absolute joy. Thank you so much, Giles, for sharing your knowledge and creating such a memorable day. And thank you, Enso, for being the best forge companion!"

Giles W Clarke responded:

"Hi Sophie, Thankyou for your kind review, it was a pleasure to have you at the forge! It’s always lovely to see someone take some newly learnt skills and apply them to their own design! Thanks again, Giles "
