Sea Glass and More - wire wrapped jewellery with Jo Cross. Half-day jewellery workshop for beginners and up. This new jewellery workshop will teach you how to make funky wire-wrapped jewellery - using sea glass and stone 'jewels' or glass cabochons in just half a day. You'll make several necklaces or pendants or bracelet charms - using materials provided, or you can bring your own precious pieces of sea-glass to incorporate! No previous experience is necessary just a willingness to have a go! - Step by step demonstrations. - Variety of stones and jewels to choose from. - Make around 3 projects with copper wire. - Pieces of sea glass provided, or bring your own holiday treasures! - Taught by jeweller Jo Cross. Wire wrapping is a popular new method of making contemporary jewellery from interesting glass gems, stones or sea glass using affordable materials and simple tools. After this workshop, you'll have enough knowledge to make your own jewellery at home, with a set of printed reminders provided as well as the materials you'll need for your pieces on the day. The course cost includes: - Glass cabochons, polished stones and sea glass samples provided - Use of tools, apron and wire for wrapping - Refreshments during the class - Maximum class size 6 people - Info sheet to keep with reminders of the techniques - All your jewellery to take home This class runs at our Northants studio just outside Towcester from 1pm to (approx) 5pm. About your tutor Jo Cross: Jo trained as a costume maker and seamstress before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company making and repairing costumes for some of the company's best known shows. More recently Jo has developed a unique form of beaded jewellery making, has established a business making and selling jewellery with fused glass jewels, and now makes and teaches others how to make wire-wrapped jewellery - with a particular interest in using sea glass and her own fused glass cabochons. Sadly not - due to the nature of the materials our classes are for adults only.
Yes.
With all one-day and longer stained glass classes we include an info pack with details of the tools you've used and suppliers plus reminders of techniques used. This isn't included in half-day classes.
We'll be delighted to help you decided what's needed.
For fusing classes we're happy to advise on tools, materials and kilns on request.
Materials are included in all beginners classes - fusing and stained glass.
Please bring reading glasses if you use them, and sturdy fully enclosed shoes (no sandals).
Aprons, googles and gloves are provided where needed.
Because you will be using lead and solder containing lead on stained glass classes.
Lead is known to pose a higher risk to babies than to adults.
We welcome participating friends or partners.
Sadly there isn't room at most classes for non-participating friends or partners.
Of course!
Fused glass will need to be collected after firing - we will contact you when ready.
This depends on which class you're planning to book.
For stained glass classes - it will be difficult to complete the class if you have severe arthritis or similar.
For fused glass classes - we suggest you choose a class which doesn't involve glass cutting - feel free to contact us to discuss.
If the class you're planning to book is described as 'for beginners' then yes!
Some of our classes are for improvers - these are described as such in the listing.
We have GF and Vegan biscuits in stock normally.
We will bring in non-dairy milk if advised in advance.
Lunches, where included, are provided by the Bell Cafe nearby which caters for intolerances, vegetarians and vegans.
