Willow Weaving ~ Shoulder / Foraging Bag

The Willow Foraging / Shoulder bag is currently the most in vogue basket in town (and in the countryside too!). This practical basket can be used for foraging, collecting driftwood, shopping or packing your flask and towel for a spot of wild swimming. This 2-day workshop (Sat 28th - Sun 29th Jan 2023) is to make EITHER the foraging backpack OR the shoulder bag from willow. Please state your choice when booking. You will learn how to put the base together, add upright stakes, weave the sides with 3-rod wale and French rand weaves and put on a border. Because there are more complex techniques involved than some other baskets, this willow workshop is more suitable if you have some experience of willow weaving (or attended any of our other willow workshops). Take home your own unique and beautiful willow foraging / shoulder basket. All tools and equipment will be provided. Workshop Tutor: Justine Burgess of West Wales Willows. Justine originally trained as an engineer, and worked in the charity and education sectors, before becoming a partner in West Wales Willows with her husband, Alan. On their smallholding in Carmarthenshire, they grow around 250 varieties of willow and sell it as cuttings and rods during the winter for others to grow, as well as selling their own willow products and sharing her expertise through workshops. All proceeds from our events and holidays are ploughed directly back into managing our 40 acre nature reserve. Thank you for your support and please do come to visit soon.

What's included in the price?
