Create a willow Christmas Snow man / woman (Eastleigh Hampshire)

Description

This a lovely pre-Christmas activity, join me to create your very own willow snow person character that won't melt away when the snow goes. A little bit of fun, just in time for Christmas, and unique decorations for your home at any time of the year. The snow person will have a flat bottom which will allow you to place it on a base. We will be using a light brown willow that still has its bark, it will last several years outside if it is treated, or why not place it in a window indoors? It is lovely to thread lights in between the weave. Please note that working with Willow can be tough on the hands as we use lots of twisting and pulling movements.

Hello, I am a willow sculptor / artist based near Southampton in Hampshire. You will often find me outside under my shelter making sculptures or outside creating work from materials that I have found. I teach in a variety of venues in and around Hampshire, as well as exhibiting my work at various art shows. I create work to commission as well as providing bespoke workshops for private and public events and projects.

"This was my birthday treat, creating bird feeder to learn techniques, then scaling up to create a garden obelisk in the afternoon. Jackie shared her knowledge of different willows and techniques - fascinating to see the different interpretations of the same tuition. The day was rounded off by creating 'dragonfly' shapes using similar techniques to making corn dollies. Feel quite satisfied today as I remembered how to make them and made two more 'dragonflies'. Thoroughly enjoyed the day doing something completely different."
