This workshop is designed for beginners, who wish to learn about the basic techniques of wet felting and how to lay out a picture. You will also learn about exciting alternative fibres and have the opportunity to use some of these and see the results in your own picture. The last part of the day will be a demonstration of how to work back into your picture once dry using a Felt needle and free Motion machine work.
Hellen Edwards completed a Textile Degree at Chelsea School of Art, London. With a passion for felting and stitching, Hellen experiments with different fibres, colours and textures, in which she exposes unique images of mostly landscape surroundings with painterly 3D quality. Making good some of her industrial surroundings on Teesside, by turning such scenes as the steel works, bridges and East coast piers and beaches, and not forgetting traditional floral into desired Fibre Paintings. She has exhibited in several galleries including The Biscuit Factory, Newcastle and was this years recepient of the Carolyn Rawlinson Memorial stall at Woolfest.
What's included in the price?
A light buffet style lunch is provided with tea/coffee. Please bring a packed lunch if you have special dietary requirements.
All tools and materials are provided, just bring some ideas of the image you would like to create.
Courses are limited to 8 people and must be pre-booked.
