About the Course
Learn to make your own jewellery in a fully equipped professional workshop. Work with silver, gold, copper and precious / semiprecious stones using traditional jewellery and silversmithing techniques.
The workshops provide a comprehensive introduction to the traditional methods of jewellery making (silversmithing), including tools, techniques and tips.

Me and my fianceé spent the day making each others wedding bands. We both liked the idea and thought it would make for a much more personal and sentimental ring rather than just buying from a shop. I had imagined that the ring may look a bit shoddy as I am very poor at diy/craft type things but due to Emma's excellent teaching and supervision the rings look amazing. I did like that she shows you on a separate ring allowing you to fully make your own, knowing that you have fully created your partner's wedding band. Thanks again Emma

Emma is a fantastic teacher and very patient and knowledgable. I have been attending session for 8 months and am enjoying them greatly. The studio is wonderful and excellently located in the centre of York.

I booked one to one tuition with Emma to learn how to make some stacking rings. I had a great day! Time flew by and I was really proud of the rings I made! Emma explains the techniques and technical aspects of jewellery making very well and is a very knowledgeable and patient teacher. The workshop is well equipped and the central location makes it easy to travel to. For anyone looking to get into jewellery making I would highly recommend contacting Emma. I will definitely be going back for another class in the future!

Me and my partner made each other's wedding rings with Emma and it was honestly the most wonderful thing we could have done! We both keep saying how it was best part out of all our wedding prep, such a nice and insightful day. Emma was a brilliant teacher, so good at explaining things and being patient. She was fantastic with all the email communication as well and was great fun on the day - and very accommodating of our fairly awkward requests.
Cannot rate highly enough!

What a fantastic course, really good size classes (4 people) full of lovely people. Emma is a great teacher and can work with everyone in group who are all at different levels. I made a ring from scratch, which I truly love and have had lots of comments about. It is very rewarding and relaxing way to spend two hours. I will be returning.

Working with Emma has been an amazing experience! I've always wanted to make jewellery of my own and didn't think it would be possible as I have no experience of my own but Emma is a great teacher. She has so much creative inspiration and brilliant teaching skills which meant I was able to start from the beginning and learn lots of fascinating techniques. Emma is very relaxed and helpful and the studio is well equipped for each student.

It feels like such a privilege to be able to make something so unique and that I will treasure forever. I've always wanted to make silver jewellery but never thought I'd get the chance because I had no idea where you could do it. But I have finally done it and working with Emma has been an absolute treat! She is so calm and makes the process seem simple even though I'm still amazed I have been able to make something by myself. Emma offers guidance and demonstrates techniques without taking over or confusing you. The workshop is a pleasant place to be and the time goes by so fast. I have only made a set of earrings but desperately want to make more things. I have recommended Emma to lots of friends and family. If this is something you have always wanted to do but thought you couldn't, don't hesitate. I genuinely believe Emma can make anyone into a jewellery designer/maker.

I have been to a couple of Emma's classes.. I've always been impressed by how well Emma is able to articulate in a way to describe how to do something, without just doing it for you. She talks you through every step clearly and professionally until you are confident and comfortable in doing that process. She will work with you to achieve your own designs and teach you processes which you can carry on through to other projects. The studio/work space is fantastic everyone has their own work bench and tools. The classes are always relaxed, fun and enjoyable. Infact so enjoyable the 2 hours flies by.. and there's always tea and coffee on hand. Lovely lady with exceptional talents and creative ideas which she is always willing to share.

The classes are small so the teaching experience is personal, relaxed and I always look forward to attending. You can work at your own pace. If you have your own ideas then great, but if like me you are sometimes lacking in this area, then Emma is always there with some creative guidance. There is never a dull lesson, as there is always something new to learn and Emma's teaching style is perfect for this environment. I couldn't recommend more.

I have been attending Emma Welsh Jewellery classes for about 8 months. I have learned so much during this time, as Emma brings together a perfect mix of creativity and technical manual skills.
Emma is a very experienced and talented jewellery designer and maker, but also a fantastic teacher who managed to create an atmosphere in her classes where you are welcomed and inspired. I thoroughly recommend anyone to have a go.

Emma is a wonderful teacher, full of creative ideas and technical expertise. Classes are small, with lots of individual attention when you need it, and the atmosphere is very relaxed and welcoming.
The workshop is well equipped and there are materials available to buy if you don't want to order your own.
