Bookbinder Cass Barron is teaming up with artist and writer Julie Galante for this special workshop which brings together the craft of bookbinding and the practice of journaling. It includes a live two-hour session as well as video tutorials you can work through at your own pace.
Cass’s video tutorials will take you through all the steps to make an A5 refillable journal with room for 4 booklets – a great addition to your collection that will last you a lifetime and can be refilled again and again. She’ll also cover how to make handy pockets and envelopes to hold your treasures/receipts, and introduce some finishing touches that will ensure your journal is both functional and fabulous. (This builds on the Midori style journal workshops Cass ran in April and is a larger more sturdy version that makes for a great personal organiser/journal.)
The Art of Journalling kit comes with everything you need to make your journal, including the tools you need to make more booklets at home – so you need never buy another notebook again! Kits will be posted out mid-November (in time to be given as Christmas gifts!) and will include a special code to access the step by step tutorials, which you can watch and work through at any point.
The Art of Journaling live session, hosted by Cass and Julie, will take place on Zoom on Wednesday 20 January, with the option to take part in the morning 10am-12pm, or evening 6-8pm. The session will share:
* Guidance on how to get going with your new journal – some writing exercises designed to tap into our creativity and promote wellbeing.
* Ideas on how to approach a journalling practice and the benefits that regular writing can bring.
* Methods such as free writing, gratitude journaling, mind mapping.
* Some creative ideas for how to put your booklets together to assist your journaling.
By the end of the session, you’ll be inspired to get started with your own journalling practice. The live sessions are capped at 10 participants so that we can create an inviting, interactive, and informal group to support your journaling journey. You have the option to make your journal before or after the Zoom workshop – either way will work.
Participants will have a choice between a 10.00am session or a 6.00pm session (UK Time) on 20 January, or a 2.00pm or 6.00pm session on 14 March. Please let us know which one you'd like when booking.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
Included in the price is an Art of Journalling materials/tool kit, access to ‘how to’ video tutorials and a live online session to facilitate your journaling journey.
This price includes shipping of your bookbinding kit to a UK address. If you’d like your kit sent further afield, get in touch and we’ll sort out the additional postage.
You will need the ability to connect to a Zoom meeting for the live session. Additionally, you'll want to have pen and paper to hand.

What a lovely combination this course provided. Making the journal was a pleasure and I'm proud of the finished work. Cass's instruction videos are excellent, really clear and easy to follow. The zoom session with Julie and Cass was really enjoyable and gave me lots of ideas about how I could use the journal. A superb idea for a course. It would make a great Christmas or birthday gift for someone who likes to make things.
Response from Airtily:Thank you so much, Karen! We're glad you enjoyed this workshop.
Best course I’ve done online during these weird Covid times. Loved the combination of making something really lovely and the writing exercises which helped free up my locked down writing mind! Also really well constructed video tutorials. Well done Cass and Julie !
Response from Airtily:Thank you so much, Lynne. High praise indeed! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the workshop.
