Spinner rings and bangles are delightful pieces of jewellery to make and to wear - come along and make your own!
The edges of the base are flared to capture the narrower satellite rings or bangle that spin freely. The silver can be textured with a variety of hammers and decorative punches, the edges of the main ring or bangle filed into waves or left straight and the silver can be given an antiqued finish or left bright and polished - so many variations that everyone in the class makes their own unique piece of jewellery.
The Spinner Ring and Bangles workshop teaches you all the traditional silversmithing techniques you need to create your own stunning and perfectly fitting sterling silver ring or bangle.
This workshop is suitable for beginners to jewellery making as it teaches many of the basic skills needed for more advanced skills, however those with previous experience will also find their skills tested and improved by the end of the session. We will also discuss tools, equipment, materials and health and safety considerations.
Only 8 places are available to ensure that everyone gets the help and attention they need.
The rings and bangles projects are listed separately on the website - please make sure that you book for the jewellery design that you prefer so that the correct amount of silver can be ordered, thank you. If you are uncertain, please do get in contact.

This was an amazing day, so much skill, enthusiasm and creativity shared amongst the small group of people. Thank you so much Joanne and I came away with just what I wanted. The workshop was paced perfectly and no one was made to feel silly for asking questions or needing extra help. If you are thinking about it stop thinking and just do it! I certainly intend to treat myself to another fantastic day.
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you very much for your kind review Paula! It was great to have you in the studio, and I hope your new ring has been much admired!
I attended Jo’s spinner ring workshop and had a fantastic time. Jo works through each step with everyone as a group and then offers individual help as and if required which is just the right balance. I came away with my very own spinner ring, something I have wanted for a long time and so happy to have made it myself instead of buying one. Thanks Jo xx
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you for coming along on another workshop Marie, it is always lovely to have you in the studio!
I have attended Jo's spinner ring workshop and loved very minute. If you’ve never tried any form of soldering or, in fact, any kind of jewellery making before, it doesn’t matter. Jo is very patient and will guide you through every step of making your own silver ring. As each class size is fairly small, there’s plenty of time for some one-on-one tuition, and you’ll find that you can quickly get to grips with some basic silversmithing techniques such as sawing accurately, filing, polishing, and annealing your pieces.
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you for coming on the workshop last weekend Susanne! It was lovely to spend the day with you all, and to see the different designs you chose for your rings. Thank you for your kind review!
I cannot recommend Jo's courses highly enough! I have done a few of Jo's jewellery workshops with my mum and sister and we are always talking about which one we are going to do next. Jo is a brilliant teacher and the groups are small enough that you can go at your own pace. She is calm and precise, explains everything clearly and makes even the hardest processes seem easy. Definitely a must if you want to learn a new skill in a relaxed and fun atmosphere.
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you for your kind words Kate! I always enjoy having the three of you in the workshops, and challenging you to expand your jewellery making skills!
It’s always a special treat and great fun to attend one of Jo’s workshops, especially as we try and go as a group. Jo is very patient with us, explaining every step carefully. I was so pleased with my bangle, my latest achievement!
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you for coming on another workshop Margaret! Your bracelet was lovely.
I have attended Jo’s spinner ring workshop with a group of friends. We had a wonderful time creating our masterpieces. Jo was so helpful, using examples of her work to help us design our rings and was there to guide us every step of the way.
I was so proud of my spinner ring, I love the fact I made my own piece of jewellery!!
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you for your kind review! It was great to have you all in the studio - you all made such lovely rings and bangles!
Jo is a wonderful and patient teacher. There were a group of 5 of us in the class and she spent one on one time with all of us to make sure we were on track. It was so much fun and totally addictive - can’t wait to book into more of Jo’s courses!
Response from Joanne Tinley Jewellery:Thank you for your lovely review Danni! It was a pleasure as always teaching you. Your ring was beautiful!
