Self-Portrait in Oils

Description

​The 'ultimate 'selfie' - a self-portrait. With models difficult to find or afford, for centuries artists have used their own image to create a painting: Rembrandt created almost 100 self-portraits. Whether it will be your first portrait or self-portrait or indeed one of many, why not come along and explore and learn with Lisa Puhlhofer

Course suits: Those with some experience of oil or acrylic paints with an interest in portraiture.

Objectives: This workshop is meant not only for capable students who wish to improve their style and their creativeness, but also for those people whose aim is to discover the fundamentals of the portrait and its secrets.

Level: Some experience with paints - advanced beginner onwards.

Course description:

Learn how to portray the essential features of a human face and focus on details.
Learn to paint the shades of complexion, the position of hands and how to handle the most difficult feature - the eyes
Learn how to create the effect of light and shade.
Learn how to recreate the facial expression​
