About the Course
Have fun turning old t-shirts and forgotten favourites into recycled works of art with the age-old skill of rag rugging. In this full day class you will learn all the skills you will need to be able to make unique rag rugs, cushions and art to spice up your home. Careful though, it’s addictive!
In this workshop, which is run at The Court Street Gallery in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, you will have the chance to start either a 100 x 60cm rag rug, rag rug cushion, rag rug shopping bag or other project. You will learn:
- How to use the rag rug equipment
- How to work with hessian
- Materials (selecting & preparing)
- How to design for rag rug
- Both rag rugging techniques (loopy & shaggy)
You will be provided with all the materials you need during the class but as the charm of rag rugging is often in the memories attached to old clothes, you're welcome to bring along any of your own clothing you’d like to incorporate, particularly if you have clothing with sentimental value that you'd like to use.
Our rag rug teacher, Elspeth Jackson, is one of the leading rag ruggers in the country. She is the author of "Rag Rugs, Pillows & More," teaches regularly at the Knitting & Stitching Show and is a regular in craft magazines at home and abroad - you'll be in very good hands!
This class is suitable for all levels but do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
