Course Start DatesTuesday 17th March 2020
About the Course
Learn a simple traditional technique for making progged rugs and seat mats. You could make a sampler, a seat mat, or start a rug. You can also try Hooking, traditional in UK, Canada and USA
Progging gives a shaggy surface when small rectangles of fabric are pulled through hessian backing. Your tutor, Jenni Stuart-Anderson, was taught rag rug making by a blacksmith's daughter who made them for over 50 years, and Jenni has enjoyed sharing the craft for several decades. She is a low impact lifestyle enthusiast and has written two books : Rag Rug Making and More Rag Rugs & Recycled Textile Projects.
Making is good for us!

This course was exactly as described - a lovely location, excellent lunch and company, and an inspiring and engaging teacher, providing lots of worked examples to provide ideas of what can be done. Thoroughly enjoyed the day, and have since completed my project, and am looking forward to the next one.
Many thanks to Jenni and Lorenzo.

Response from Jenni's Rag Rugs:So glad you enjoyed the day Christine. Do send me a picture of your project which I could share on the students' page of my website - I look forward to seeing it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this course, having wanted to try this craft for some time, but not having the confidence to start by myself. We were a small group and Jenni's relaxed, friendly demeanour made it very easy to learn the various styles of rag-rugging, giving me the confidence I needed to continue this new skill. Also the venue, The Guildhouse, Stanton, was amazing. Made the learning all the more enjoyable !

Response from Jenni's Rag Rugs:I enjoyed the day too. Thanks for your review Pauline and I'd be happy to put a picture of your work on my website. Keep on progging!
I attended a Rag Rug workshop course run by Jenni Stuart-Anderson 5 - 7 April held at Huntlands Farm, so the course and accommodation were at the same place - excellent.
Jenni's teaching and coaching were excellent and has given me the skills to continue with the craft with confidence.

I attended this course to give me ideas for my GCSE Textiles project; I came away from the course with all the knowledge of how to make the rag rugs and full of inspiration for my final piece. Jenni was amazing and very helpful. The venue was easy to find, with lots of parking and the food was delicious. Every one who attended the course was really friendly.

Lovely venue at Trumpet Corner and very friendly course run by Jenni. We were a small group and chatted away to new friends whilst learning all about progging and hooking. Lots of opportunities to ask questions as we tried out techniques using different fabrics. Came away with lots of ideas and more confidence to start a project. Jenni is a real expert and it was a privilege to learn from her experience.
