Pyrography workshop Would you like to learn a new, addictive, enjoyable and refreshing skill which has its roots in nature and ancient cultural traditions? Now is your chance to learn pyrography (wood burning), in a step-by-step, easy to follow workshop, which is suitable for beginners – no experience or drawing skills necessary at all! You will be taught how to hold the pyrography tool safely and make a variety of marks on wood, as well as how to burn different shades to create tonal depth. You will get to experiment with scale and composition, by creating … a large wooden slice pyrography design AND a chopping board design AND a small wood coaster We will emboss designs into wood, perfect for gifts or decorations. The design you create can be of anything you like – inspiration images will be provided, but feel free to bring along any imagery you might like to take ideas from. Once your designs have been burnt into the natural wood you will have the option to seal your design with Danish oil.

Maker
Dr Helen Jones has 12 years art teaching experience. Helen achieved a 1st Class honours in Fine Art and continues to be a practicing Artist from her home studio in Chester. She completed an MA in Art Education and then completed a Doctorate in the subject. She has delivered adult art workshops nationally. Helen has also taught art in Tuscany, the Congo, Rome and Finland. She has a warm and encouraging nature.
