A fun taster into learning leatherwork - make your own leather plant pot! Come and experience the absorbing and tactile world of leather work. Using traditional skills and techniques you will create your own unique item taking it from raw material to finished piece. Tuition is delivered by Master Saddler and Leather Artisan Karen Ellis at her workshop in rural Aberdeenshire. Workshops are run in small groups of around four, which allows for lots of individual attention, while providing a chance for shared inspiration and encouragement and a great creative vibe! Suitable for beginners who would like an insight into the world of leather-working and the more experienced crafter who is keen to try a new skill. In our half day together you will: -Work with traditional vegetable tanned leather. -Gain a basic understanding of and practice using various leather-working tools such as knives, punches and edgers; -Learn how to dye, stamp and paint on leather. -Introduction to traditional saddle stitching with two needles. -Learn how to fit rivets. Leave with your own unique leather cactus pot and mini cactus.
