Come and experience the absorbing and tactile world of weather work. Using traditional skills and techniques you will create your own unique item taking it from raw material to finished piece.
Tuition is delivered by Master Saddler and Leather Artisan Karen Ellis at her workshop in rural Aberdeenshire.
Workshops are run in small groups of around four, which allows for lots of individual attention, while providing a chance for shared inspiration and encouragement and a great creative vibe!
Suitable for beginners who would like an insight into the world of leather-working and the more experienced crafter who is keen to try a new skill.
In our half day together you will:
-Work with traditional vegetable tanned leather.
-Gain a basic understanding of and practice using various leather-working tools such as knives, punches and edgers;
-Learn how to dye, stamp and paint on leather.

Excellent course for beginners. Karen takes you through each of the steps for the production of your chosen item in a fun and informative way. The standard of instruction and quality of materials is very high. Very pleased with my belt. No hesitation in recommending this wonderful opportunity to learn new skills to others. Thanks to Karen for motivating me to do more leather work.

I went to a half day course recently and decided to make a dog collar. I have no experience at all with leather work but I felt I really achieved something and went home with something I could be proud of! Small group and friendly atmosphere where you can learn a new and interesting skill.
I really enjoyed this course! Fantastic teaching with a very light and friendly atmosphere. Karen is so patient and ensures that everyone has a fun and productive experience. I would recommend Karmarell’s courses to anyone looking to learn something new and have a great day!
