Introduction to Metalwork & Welding - for 1 or 2 People

Description

An introduction to the metalworking and welding techniques that Philip uses when making his fabrications and metal sculptures. This short course is offered as a one on one session, or for two people to attend - this could be for friends, a couple, or a parent and child (aged 11 and over) You can choose your preference from a morning (9.30-1.30) or afternoon (12.30-4.30) session once you have booked, Philip will message you to confirm. The workshop will focus on the basic skills and tools needed to cut, manipulate and join steel - the foundations of metal fabrication. Get ready for hot metal, sparks and metal wrangling! You will be introduced to a variety of tools and equipment including: ● Metal cutting saws ● Angle grinders ● Metal benders and rollers ● MIG Welding ● Oxy-acetylene cutting and heating Philip will give you an insight into his practice and how to get into metal art or metal fabrication, over a well brewed coffee, tea or infusion!

I have been sculpting, fabricating and teaching metalwork since 2002 using a wide range of skills and techniques. I have run my own metal sculpture practice as well as freelanced for sculpture and set making companies including The Royal Opera House. I love teaching and have a huge amount of experience working with people of all ages either one on one or with groups. I am City & Guilds qualified and currently teach C&G Welding at Plumpton College.
