About the Course
Make a 3-legged rustic stool.
Make a Rustic Stool in green wood. What is Green Wood? Green Wood is freshly felled, still sappy wood. To work it requires a set of simple techniques based on an understanding of how wood reacts - both to the tools, and to the dry and shrinking process. Because it is green, the wood is soft and easy to work with hand tools, and because of this, green woodwork creates little waste, and can utilise small trees and logs. It is therefore green in all senses of the word.
Rustic stools are made from cleft timber [Ash or Sycamore]. with legs of Ash in its natural form. This makes a very simple stool, and is a great course that anyone can do - no experience needed.

When you wake up in the night feeling fraught about the state of the world, you can remember how good and kind the people were on this day in the woods. What a lovely experience! It has inspired me to sort out chisels, a drill and a vice to make things. Thank you so much.

We actually ended up with a 4 legged stool!
The course was well organised and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The group contained people from very diverse backgrounds and so the course leader and his volunteers had to work very hard to enable everyone to be successful. I would recommend this course to anyone.

Had a good time and came away with a stool, my 10 fingers intact and some nice memories. Get away from the rat race in the woods and make something creative.

A fun and enjoyable day, in an encouraging and supportive environment.
I had no prior experience with any sort of woodwork (apart from general DIY) and fancied trying something different. Dave was supportive and informative (as were the volunteers) and happy to show each of us the techniques as many times as we needed. I would have been happy coming away with one good stool leg and I surprised myself when I had a lovely, whole stool by the end of the day!
I would definitely recommend this course.

Thoroughly enjoyable day from start to finish because of the tutors, company and hands on work. Excellent tuition and support given in a relaxed manner and you come away with a lovely stool.

A great course creating a three legged stool. I had some previous knowledge regarding green woodwork but still learned a lot. The tutors were friendly, fun and very knowledgeable and the location was great. I'm intending to sign up to another course as soon as possible. Thanks to all concerned for an informative, fun and worthwhile day.

Getting to practise some excellent skills using high quality traditional tools was really rewarding. The tutors were very experienced and helpful. To have something to take home at the end of the day made it even better
