Spend a day in a relaxed, friendly workshop learning to carve a lino cut and to make prints from your linocut design.
You will be learning how to:
Use a picture, photo or freehand drawing to make a design on your lino.
How to transfer your design to the lino ready for cutting.
How to use lino cutting tools to carve the lino to make a print
Make a print from your finished linocut, perhaps to take home to frame or to make into cards
You will be able to take your individual project home so you can make more prints on paper or cards, and it is also worth noting that you can also use lino cuts to make prints onto fabric.
As a group we may also be able to discuss how to use different colours for lino cuts (which we can then explore further in an intermediate workshop for more advance lino cutting designs and printing).
Time: 10am start - Finish 4pm
Maximum number on workshop is 4 adults (This class is suitable for adults and accompanied teens only please)
Buying as a gift or for a special occasion? Please contact us as we would love to share the occasion with you.
WORKSHOP NOTES (regarding changes from 19th July 2021)
* 4 People max for Workshops (I have no plans to increase the numbers of people attending workshops for the foreseeable future)
* 1 person per 6ft (185cm) table (so you can work with a minimum 2m distance from other workshop attendees)
* Well ventilated, clean Workshop (as ever!)
* Hand Sanitiser (please continue to use it frequently)
* Separate Toilet Facilities for just our Workshop (so you know who you could have been in contact with and to minimise contact with general public)
We encourage everyone to continue to respect other people's space.
You are very welcome to wear a mask or face covering at any time during your visit to the Workshop (there is absolutely no need to feel uncomfortable about wanting to wear a facemask). I will be wearing one whenever I feel it is necessary or am required/requested to do so.
You are not required to wear a facemask while you are crafting but please still bring a mask with you as you may be required to wear one in retail spaces and public spaces such as the general toilet area and shared space such as the corridor to the Workshop (we are waiting for more clarification over the next few days).
If you have any concerns or questions about attending Workshops with the restrictions lifted, please let me know and we will work together to make sure that you are confident that you can craft safely in the Workshop.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
Price includes all the materials needed to make a project piece as well as use of tools in the workshop.
All the other equipment will be supplied except an apron which you may like to bring. Please wear clothes suitable for crafting - lino cutting ink is quite sticky and you may wish to bring a craft apron.
Hot and cold drinks are available throughout the session. Please bring lunch, snacks and any other refreshments which you would like which are appropriate for the length of workshop which you have booked.

A really great day of tuition tailored to my needs. I felt really relaxed and Sally answered all my questions. I especially liked Sally runniing through all the kit and saying what to buy and alternatives. The day went past so quickly and I now feel much more confident in lino printing. Excellent course for beginners with lots of encouragement and advice. Thank you Sally.
Response from Craft Workshops:Thank you Barbara - what a lovely day we had! I'm looking forward to seeing your lino cuts & prints as you create them. It's such a lovely way to be creative and to develop your own style.
Sally Evan's style and approach to the workshop was well judged for me, a complete beginner to lino cutting. She balanced demonstration with encouragement to work alongside her very well. As an outcome from the workshop I had a linocut of a blackbird in the style (roughly!) of an artist I admire and very clear instruction on how to print, which I completed immediately following the workshop. My progress within two hours exceeded my expectation and I feel confident and motivated to go on more making.
Thank you, Sally
Response from Craft Workshops:Thank you Sally - what a lovely review :)
A great and informative day. Sally calmly helped us all make some interesting Lino prints and gave us lots of support on the day and details of how to get follow up support when we are making by ourselves. The facilities were excellent and all the group was fun and supportive. Thank you Sally
