About the Course
This friendly and supportive course is suitable for the beginner through to advanced students. 1:1 support will be given as needed during the day, with advice on drawing and measuring techniques, along with support exploring different art mediums.
The day will usually be made up of a morning of short poses from 2 minute to 15 minute; exploring measuring techniques (for beginners), form, structure and line. Then after lunch there will be the opportunity for you to discuss your own ideas and poses, which could contain longer poses for painting or more dynamic poses to explore line, form and movement.
Tricia Johnson has been teaching this regular life drawing course for 3 years, the tutor also teaches daily drawing and painting sessions for the local Adult Education service where she has been running various courses for over 17 years.
Materials/information:This is a sketching workshop with a nude model. This course is suitable for all levels as individual support will be given to help you get the most out of the day.
Please bring your own art materials and drawing board; sketching pencils or charcoal, paper to fit your drawing board (preferably larger than A4). You may also like to use colour mediums (if you have experience with them) – watercolours, inks or pastels. I will have desk top easels to borrow, but you are more than welcome to bring your own standing easel if you have one.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
The course is based in the local church hall where a charity cafe is run in the morning for tea and coffee. Please bring your own lunch or you can visit the Co-op only a few doors down the road. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available in the afternoon.
Feel free to contact the tutor to find out any further information.
Have been to several of the Life Drawing workshops before and always enjoyed them. This one with musicians was a bit different and quite a challenge as they were clothed and constantly moving! A nice relaxed atmosphere, helpful encouragement and words of advice from Tricia and the music was great. I'd love to have another go at this.

Response from Art with Tricia:Many thanks for your positive feedback and continued support of the Life Drawing workshops throughout the year.
A very different and challenging life course with the musicians expertly playing a wide range of music while posing in natural playing stances.
A clothed life class is new to me but the music evoked a new style to my art.
Tricia was continually behind the scenes dropping words of advice or approval as she observed our efforts.
It was hard work but very enjoyable.
I hope Tricia will bring them together again for us.

Response from Art with Tricia:Thank you for your support over the past few years, I'm glad to see you are still enjoying coming to Life Drawing each session and are being 'challenged' by the different themes each workshop.
Always fun, Tricia is a friendly and helpful tutor, who is happy to share her knowledge.
Each workshop sets a new challenge, offering lots of opportunities to push myself and practise my drawing skills.

Interesting and challenging days - especially enjoy the slightly longer poses.
Kate Johnson - - #15970
