This all day course takes you through the main skills needed to design and make simple leather items. We'll start with a belt or dog collar - cutting out leather, preparing the strap, practise tooling and stamping then design and decorate and staining the belt before making it up. The second part of the day will be spent designing a small bag or purse which we will prepare and decorate before stitching, staining and finishing.
This is a chance to learn an exciting new skill! Many of our students have gone on to make specific projects with or without our help and some have started up in business, selling their products. You can take it further with additional classes and project sessions. See our website for details.
We work as a small class in an informal setting in our class area within our equestrian shop. We have a kitchen (with microwave but not a hob) and toilet facilities and will provide coffee, tea and biscuits. Lunch is available from local shops or bring your own.
If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Leather, materials, use of tools, equipment and tuition are included in the price.

My leather crafting course was great. Our instructor, Frances was very knowledgeable and patient. You will be shown all the basic skills to create your own projects when finished. A basic leather starter kit from Amazon should have all the tools for your first project. All in all a great course.
Throughout the day you will get to make to make 2 projects..a leather belt and another of your choice which you will also stain to your desired colour. I posted my project pictures on Facebook and now have orders for similar projects from friends.

Thank you Gordon, I enjoyed out session on Saturday - it was lovely to work with you all and to get such good results. I hope to see you again!
Very good workshop where we get most of the basics for leather crafting.
It was an intense day but we had time to make one belt and one little bag per person.
Small group so very easy to interact with the teacher.

Thanks Seb, I enjoyed your company and loved the creativity that came out in the session. Frances
