Description

Come and experience the absorbing and tactile world of Leather-work. Using traditional skills and techniques you will create your own unique item taking it from raw material to finished piece. Tuition is delivered by Master Saddler and Leather Artisan Karen Ellis at her workshop in rural Aberdeenshire. Workshops are run in small groups of around four, which allows for lots of individual attention, while providing a chance for shared inspiration and encouragement and a great creative vibe! Suitable for beginners who would like an insight into the world of leather-working and the more experienced crafter who is keen to try a new skill. During our day together you will: -Make a plant pot holder and valet tray; -Work with traditional veg tanned or bridle leather; -Choose from a selection of soft, coloured, textured and patent leathers for added design elements; -Learn how to use templates; -Gain a basic understanding of and practice using various leather-working tools such as knives, punches and edgers; -Learn to mould and shape leather; -Learn traditional saddle stitching with two needles; -Learn how to attach metal and leather fittings. Leave with beautiful and practical leather home accessories that will add a design factor to your home.
