Learn to Make Metal Candle Holders!

Description

A day or two days working with the metalworking and welding techniques that Philip uses when fabricating and finishing his metal candle holders. The full day workshop will focus on the skills needed to cut, manipulate and join steel, then use this skills to make your own metal candle holders to take home. The 2 day workshop will give you more time to experiment with welding and metal forming processes, develop more complex designs, and/or make more candle holders! Please note that 2 day courses need to be booked as 2 x one day courses, and won't run on consecutive days. Philip is available to run his courses on Mondays, Wednesdays and some Saturdays. If you have ideas for your own candle holder design that you would like to make you are welcome to contact Philip to discuss these ahead of time. You will be introduced to a variety of tools and equipment including: ● Metal cutting saws ● Angle grinders and other power tools ● Metal benders and rollers ● Using Jigs to cold form metal ● MIG Welding ● TIG Welding ● Gas Forge & Anvil ● Metal finishing Get ready for hot metal, sparks and metal wrangling! Philip will also give you an insight into his practice and how to get into metal art or metal fabrication, over a well brewed coffee, tea or infusion.

I have been sculpting, fabricating and teaching metalwork since 2002 using a wide range of skills and techniques. I have run my own metal sculpture practice as well as freelanced for sculpture and set making companies including The Royal Opera House. I love teaching and have a huge amount of experience working with people of all ages either one on one or with groups. I am City & Guilds qualified and currently teach C&G Welding at Plumpton College.
