About the Course
Introduction to green wood crafts and charcoal making (small oil drum kiln).
Set in our beautiful tranquil 40 acre ancient oak woodland in Cornwall, you will be welcomed with an open fire and cup of tea and an over view of your day.
Day 1 One way to make good use of small round wood thinnings from the wood or produced by the ongoing restoration of coppice is to turn it into charcoal which is great to use for cooking or selling on. During the day you will learn the process of charcoal burning to make quality sustainable charcoal, and gain an insight into how it feels to work in the woods.
Day 2 You will learn how to use traditional hand tools including a shave horses to craft and carve spatulas, butter knives and gypsy flowers. You will learn safe knife techniques that can be used to carve beautiful walking sticks.
A family or friends group can book a day all to themselves. A booking of 4 or more will give you a 10% discount. Just contact us with preferred dates and we'll work with you to create your course.
