About the Course
This special course is run only once a year at the historic Towneley Park in Burnley within the Old Walled Garden of Offshoots Permaculture Project. Over the weekend you learn tree & plant identification walking through the park and we'll collect weavable, woody material to make a basket with. Then in the afternoon and the second day we'll weave a basket!!
These baskets are the most simple of all baskets to weave and a variety of shapes can be woven with them making this course ideal for beginners new to basketry. Over the course you’ll weave with different willow varieties and the many other materials available to weave with free and locally. You'll get expert advice from Joe Gregory throughout.
This course is ideal for those wanting to deepen their relationship with their local, natural environment, those working in the outdoors and woodlands, those wanting to develop ID skills, working with adults and children, Forest School, Bush Craft etc.
There is a wonderfully warm and large classroom on the Offshoots site we'll be using once materials have been gathered: )
Go to my website to see everything we have coming up and the venues and we also offer small group tuition and 1 to 1 tuition from our studio in Todmorden and we can come to you!
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

that's a lovely review!
A fabulous course . Joe has great knowledge which she delights in sharing. Great to finish the day with a basket of ones own.

This was my first course with Joe, and I’d received it as a present. What a fabulous gift! It turned out to be the first course of many. I am addicted.
Joe is a very patient teacher, helping you to creat a unique basket. The course are only small groups so you all revive lots of 1:2:1 guidance throughout the day.
Weaving is like therapy; it is so absorbing that you can shut down the stresses in life, just get on with your basket.
The courses are excellent value for money.
