We have now re-opened with 2-metre distancing and smaller groups.
Drawing rural animals: Join us on a traditional Lakeland family farm to develop the basic drawing skills you need to draw animals confidently and to observe animals in their natural environment. The workshop will cover steps on how to draw animals using simple shapes and lines, the concept of gesture drawing combined with observation and basic animal anatomy. Special measures will be in place to keep everyone safe.
You will have plenty of opportunities to observe, sketch and photograph animals on the farm. We will also focus on the importance of sketchbooks and you will use your sketches, photos and notes to create a finished piece of artwork in your choice of medium. You’re also welcome to experiment using water-soluble brush pens.

The workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, based in a converted Cumbrian barn on our traditional Lakeland Farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Make it a special break and stay in one of our luxury camping pods on the farm. Check out our website for details.
All our tutors are carefully selected professionals and experts with extensive teaching experience. Whilst this is a relatively new venture, George, who set up Cowshed Creative, has many years of experience programming and running creative courses at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and for Cumbria Adult Education.
