With Linda Hampson For those of you unable to attend Linda’s course in person we offer the option of joining us online. This is a chance to explore coloured pencil drawing for those who have never put pencil to paper. Also a wonderful course for those newer to drawing and wanting to learn the basic techniques. Included are SIX instructional videos: ‘Putting Pencil to Paper’ – A complete introduction to paper, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, setting up for still life and working from photographic reference. (45mins) ‘Garden Peas’ – Video tutorial (1hr 59 mins) ‘Apple’ – Video tutorial (1hr 14 mins) ‘Blue Tit’ – Video tutorial (1hr 52 mins) ‘Wild Rabbit’ – Video tutorial (1hr 14 mins) ‘Ox Eye Daisy’ – Video tutorial (1hr 21 mins) With almost nine hours of detailed instruction included, you can be assured of five artworks to be proud of at the end of this course and enough techniques to continue your new skill. A set of notes, guidance on paper and pencils to use and an instructional video for each part of the course are included. All you need is a selection of Faber Castell Polychromos pencils, good quality white drawing paper and a few pencil case items. The full list of pencil colours (22) & paper required for this course is available here: Requirements List you may choose to buy a larger set of pencils, or buy a smaller set and then top up any additional pencils needed separately, or simply buy the pencils you need. We invite you to share your outcomes with Linda and of course be in touch if you have any queries or need help by email for the duration of the course. Coloured pencil is a marvellously versatile medium and it is genuinely an easy medium to master when you have learned the basic techniques. You will learn how to layer and blend and various other ‘tricks’ in these easy introductory lessons to produce beautiful illustrations or artworks. "I attended a one day coloured pencil workshop with Linda Hampson at the Old Kennels in September 2021. It was a lovely day with teaching taking place in the barn and lunch outside in the gorgeous surroundings. It was obvious that great care had been taken to ensure that everything was Covid safe so the atmosphere was relaxed. I am new to coloured pencils and I learnt so much. The accompanying video is a great idea because you can practice what you learnt at home. I will be attending future workshops in 2022."

"I thoroughly enjoyed this course and definitely recommend it to anyone. I checked the link early and ordered a few pencils in and made sure I had some paper etc. around the house before I sat down to start. I spent a few hours on a rainy Sunday sketching in the company of the lovely tutor via pre-recorded video and I loved it. The course provides written instructions, extra details and the pre-recorded video that you can stop, rewind and re-play as many times as you need. I have never done anything quite like this and I was genuinely pleased with what I produced, even though I didn't think for one minute I would be. If you're not sure, just give it a go!"
