Copper and aluminium foil embossing taster kit and course

X

Description

Fancy trying something new in a relaxed online live course that includes the kit you’ll need? How about trying copper and aluminium foil embossing to create things like bookmarks and gift tags? If you can use a pencil or write with a pen then you can emboss foil. It’s easy to get started and soon you’ll be able to make pretty raised images in metal. The course is an informal taster, so no pressure, just having fun trying something new. My main aim is for you to enjoy yourself. The course will be run through Zoom (or similar) – an email link will be sent to you before the course, along with instructions (it’s not complicated at all), plus there will be an option for a quick trial run if you’d like. Zoom is free. You will need a computer, laptop or tablet with internet connection, microphone and camera and that way you’ll be able to see and hear what I’m doing, plus be able to chat, ask questions and show your work. You’ll get the opportunity to make two out of four possible options; fridge magnet, bookmark, Christmas decoration and gift tag. What you’ll learn on the course How to use embossing tools on copper and aluminium foil. How to make your embossed foil into something useful. Suggestions for what else you can make. At the end of the course you’ll have at least two things made, plus the kit to be able to make more things. Please get in touch to discuss dates for the course. The course will run for about 2 ½ to 3 hours to a group of up to 5 people. Kit for the course will be sent out at least a week before the course, with the cost and UK postage included in the price of the course (for postage abroad there will be a slight additional fee). As I’m sending out kit, payment for the course will need to be paid before the course. Please let me know if you haven’t received your kit 4 or 5 days before the course so I can post another set. The kit includes pieces of copper and aluminium foil, embossing stylus tools, cork mat, mount-board, coloured card, magnet, tape, tracing paper, guidance notes etc. You’ll need to supply some items, but I hope all should be things you’ll already have (let me know if anything will be a problem). What you’ll need – laptop/computer/tablet with internet connection, pencil, ruler, eraser, something to mark 90 degrees eg set square or protractor, scissors, hole punch, fine permanent marker and/or low tac tape (eg masking tape or magic tape) and scrap paper. Additional useful things if you have them will be glue (eg copydex), acrylic paint and paint brushes, compass and books to weigh things down as glue sets. Good light will help. Before the course it would be good if you could look out for images and patterns you like. Please get in touch if you have any questions. Thank you for looking at my course listing.

What's included in the price?

Live online tuition via Zoom or equivalent and the kit for the course. The date will be agreed once the course has been booked.

Maker

I make copper and enamelled copper items such as jewellery, bowls, tealight holders and wall hangings. For enamelling, it all started with a one-day taster course, where I fell in love and set about learning more. This inspired me to learn about copperworking too. I'm now hoping to inspire more people to have a go!
