Blacksmithing course: blacksmith tool making day

X

Description

This blacksmithing course is perfect for those who have caught the blacksmithing bug and would like to set up their own forge at home. You will make at least one pair of hand-forged tongs and various punches. Once the fires are lit and the health and safety chat out of the way we will get straight down to the business of hammering some hot steel. The day is fully hands-on and will cover all the techniques and skills necessary to make your bespoke blacksmithing tools. The Forge workshop is situated in the rural outskirts of Yarm, between Darlington and Northallerton so is easily accessible from the A1 or A19. Adrian Wood is a university graduate with a degree in fine art sculpture from The University of London. A chance visit to a blacksmith's forge gave Adrian Wood his first taste of blacksmithing. He recalls; ”From the first moment I hit the hot steel I knew what I wanted to do.” Please note that due to our insurance restrictions we are not able to take any participants under the age of 18 years. Due to the nature of our workshop, we do not recommend participants bring any guests with them that wish to observe the day. We do not have the facilities or space to accommodate people that are not taking part in the activity. Please do message us via the 'message the tutor' button if you have any specific requirements.
