Pencil Drawing for Beginners with Louise Comfort Cann, at Rural Antics, Hanwell Wine Estate, Nottinghamshire
The spring and summer months are a special time here at Hanwell Wine Estate and it’s set to be a busy season in the Rural Antics Calendar. We’re looking forward to inviting the local community to join us whilst we discover everything from foraging to willow weaving to landscape oil painting.
We’re particularly excited to welcome local illustrator Louise Comfort-Cann for our one day pencil drawing for beginners workshop, which we’ll be hosting on Saturday 17th June and again on Saturday 29th July. Louise will work alongside you, explaining basic drawing skills and showing you how to use pencils to bring to life the detail and colours of the English countryside. All materials will be provided for you and the workshop includes a two-course homemade lunch served with local wine. At the end of the day you will have created your own pencil drawing to take home with you.
Based in Grantham, Louise spent six years at art school, three years of which were at Kingston University where she completed a degree in Illustration. Having graduated in 1992, Louise has been illustrating children’s books for various top publishers ever since and has recently started teaching adults and children. She explains: “Drawing trains the eye to observe, opens the mind and is a fun and therapeutic activity. There will be lots to inspire us in the vineyard this summer – in particular the detail and colour of the wild flowers, vine leaves and English roses will make fantastic subjects for pencil drawing.”
To ensure the quality of your personal experience, the group size will be limited.
