About the Course

Axe making course - 3 days

This 3 day workshop will take you through the process of making two hand axes, one made by the forge welded “bow tie” method of construction where a steel edge is forge welded into a softer iron body and then folded around on itself to form an eye. We will also make a punched and drifted axe from carbon steel.

The course will be held from 9am to 5pm each day.

If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

You will need to bring warm, non-flammable, natural material clothing. Although the forge itself is hot, the forging area can be quite cold so please dress for all temperatures.
If you have any personal tools or favoured safety equipment, by all means bring it. I do however have full safety equipment and all tools are provided.
Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. We will be stopping for lunch at a local café and/or getting food at local shops so either bring money or food.
